For over 25 years, I've worked to improve the lives of and outcomes for students who struggle. At New Solutions K12, I lead our team in helping school and district leaders address their biggest challenges and cost-effectively raise student achievement while improving equity. I bring a unique perspective to this mission to improve public education, having served as a school superintendent, school board member, author, speaker, and consultant to over 250 districts in more than 30 states and around the world as well as state departments of education, foundations, legislators, and education technology companies. As a recognized sector thought leader, I regularly speak nationally, conduct primary research, and write extensively. I've authored five books, a great many, many articles, and white papers for leading think tanks, including the American Enterprise Institute, the Center for American Progress, and the Fordham Institute. I have a proven track record in guiding organizations through major transitions in leadership, ownership, or game-changing events external to the organization. I bring to this work extensive experience with multi-generational family businesses with both active and passive ownership. I also frequently serve as an advisor to Ed Tech start-ups seeking to navigate the complexities of K-12.I have also served on both private and non-profit boards including a number of family businesses as well as local chapters of UNCF (formerly United Negro College Fund), Habitat for Humanity, and the Boxford Public Schools.
