Duties included maintaining / improving fabric deployment scripts, maintenance / scaling of Couchbase and Cassandra clusters, general scaling of production systems relative to growth, implementing performance measurements via statsd, monitoring via Nagios, and participating in on-call schedules. Performanced deep investigations into performance issues of core services. Starting July 2016 formalized a SRE team to address operational issues and begin implement architecture improvements to further address performance.

From March 2015 - March 2016 primarily worked on full stack feature development for Klaviyo’s email marketing product. Working with Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase, MySQL, and Django. Developed a system of third party integration error handling and reporting. Built a email content generation system for ecommerce store products based on user selected criteria.

Developed beta product based on Grails and running on Softlayer into a paid product for the first 2 years. This involved implementing many features such as custom emails and branding that were required for the paid product. Integrated with the Stripe payment processor.Implemented more automation around deployments for beta product. Architected and implemented V2 of Vsnap's flagship product on AWS using Node.js in the span of 4 months. AWS architecture was implemented in a multi-AZ load balanced VPC for higher uptime and no-downtime deployments using Cloudformation. Also utilized S3, RDS, SQS, Elastic Transcoder in the application architecture and Packer to build EC2 AMIs. Introduced continuous integration via Jenkins to Vsnap's delivery process.Helped bring on a new team of developers by educating them on tools and programming techniques via Lunch & Learn meetings. Worked 1-on-1 with developers to help them past technical and programming difficulties. Lead the team in blameless postmortems (following Etsy's model) to help the team learn from product/service outages.

Project lead for mobile web application development. Designed mobile web application architecture and UX to provide full mobile ordering solution with equivalent functionality to desktop web app.Participated in the design and development of web application infrastructure. Built several proof-of-concept applications during the design phase to validate and troubleshoot design decisions.Integrated the Ruby based SASS framework into an Apache Ant build system using JRuby.
