Working as a part of the UK Software QA team at Light & Wonder, I am responsible for testing the latest land based games before they are released to the market. Primarily consisting of manual testing, this role involves working on new and existing games to discover issues, reporting the issues on various platforms and communicating updates with various teams such as Development, Game Design and Management to ensure the games work as they should.

I worked within NCC Group's Software Escrow division in a role that primarily consisted of me conducting the integrity testing on source code deposits that have been deposited into Escrow, and then producing the Media Check Reports that are sent out to customers. Due to the nature of the integrity testing, I was exposed to a large amount of different development languages, operating systems, virtual machines, and software. The role also involved fully managing the NCC Group Escrow Live/View web portals and providing technical customer support via email and telephone. During my time in the role, I also assisted in several projects such as UAT testing new business systems & a new user portal, along with vault audit work when required.

During my final year at Edge Hill University, I worked for the Computing department by organising support sessions every week with other students. This role allowed me to assist many younger students with their coursework, by utilising my IT knowledge that I have learnt throughout my education. The support I could provide to them then allowed them to complete their coursework to higher standards and achieve better grades. It was a fantastic experience for me which provided me with the opportunity to further develop valuable IT, communication, and team-building skills by supporting other students.

Whilst I was in education, I completed various work experience with a joinery and construction company set up by my father. He employed me over the summer holidays for these years and through working with this team I have gained strong experience of working alongside others in a team to complete projects. There were many opportunities to learn different aspects of the building trade during this experience, including working on projects such as a barn conversion, extension build and reroofing houses. All this allowed me to develop as a person by becoming more confident which has assisted me greatly since starting in my career.

This was my first experience of a working environment and involved working in the kitchen of a local restaurant as a kitchen porter. I gained a lot of valuable experience from this job by working under pressure to complete various tasks such as washing all the pans by hand and loading the dishwasher with plates and cutlery. The skills I gained from this still benefit me today, as good communication and multitasking were key to ensure that the rest of the kitchen wasn’t impacted by slow performance.
