I have had the wonderful privilege of working in a variety of industries before even starting my engineering career. These range from food all the way to nuclear. I am very grateful for each and the opportunity they have presented for me to learn and grow. I could go on about the specifics of each and the different skill sets each requires. Rather, I think it is beneficial to highlight the important values I have learned from all of them that they can be applied in any industry.I believe it is important to apply these values in the workplace and in everyday life- Express gratitude, don't take what you have for granted, and be grateful for the opportunities given to you- Patience, we are all human, and mistakes are bound to happen, a calm and patient demeanor goes a long way- Flexibility, the world changes at a rapid pace and it is important to be able to be flexible to make things work- Communication, at the end of the day, if things aren't communicated well, progress is hindered- Be humble, no one has it all figured out, let the ego take a backseat and ask for helpMy experiences have made me well-rounded and eager to learn even more. As I begin to transition from academia to my career I'm excited to see where the future will take me.
