Nathan is an author and lawyer, advising startups in the tech, fintech, blockchain, and web3 space. He is currently the Partner for Innovation at M Law. He is also legal counsel for web3 projects, including Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas, the part of the YGG Association that deals with all matters related to the Philippines. Nathan was formerly General Counsel of the fintech and corporate venture studio UBX (recognized in ’20 and ’21 as the fastest growing fintech company in Southeast Asia), and a lawyer for UnionBank of the Philippines (a multi-awarded leading universal bank in the country). At UnionBank’s Fintech Group, he pioneered the unit that gave legal and strategic guidance to novel initiatives like the Virtual Currency (BitBox) ATM and Philippine peso-backed stablecoin (PHX), among other blockchain/crypto projects. Before focusing on the blockchain and fintech space, Nathan was a consultant for tech startups, government agencies, and NGOs, drafting legislation and advising clients on matters involving administrative law, criminal law, energy, technology, and human rights. He also served in the Philippine government, as Chief of Staff of the Chairman, and Head of the Legal Department of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). Nathan started his career as a litigator at the Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz (ACCRA) Law Offices, a top firm. He co-authored the first book documenting actual use cases of blockchain technology in the country.
