As a member of the Windows Engineering group, I was responsible for delivering new servers and virtual desktops, maintaining and patching, delivering new solutions, and working with other internal teams and outside vendors. Some highlights are: Created a PowerShell module which automated the deployment and configuration of our implementation of VMware Horizon View Desktop Pools for our sites in Lenexa, Chicago and New York. 20+ Pools were launched across the sites for 300+ virtual desktops. Multi-level documentation including Confluence articles and Visio workflows. Reconciled user access in a post-merger environment by identifying 172 users' old access with no match to their new credentials in 155 security groups and remedied the access via PowerShell script. While investigating a routine issue, I identified and recommended corrective action for a permissions issue effecting 30+ servers which caused 2,100+ missing patches. Setup ESXi servers, vCenter and clusters with Vester best practice configs. Included vCenters and Horizon View servers to be monitored by vRealize Operations. Worked with 3rd party tools which included facilitating the upgrade of the Cormant inventory system, setting up a DR replica of PasswordState database and working with VMware support on storage configuration issues.

I create self service website and script automation in deploying and maintaining VMs in the ESX 5.0 environment which has exceeded 155,000+ Servers. Programming/Scripting languages include Microsoft PowerShell, VMware PowerCLI, ASP.NET, C#, SQL, Ruby on Rails and Java.

Member of Infrastructure Support Reactive group responsible for maintaining over 10,000+ Windows and VMWare ESX servers in support of Cerner 24x7 Health System software as a service to hospitals across the nation. Was promoted to the Infrastructure Project Team which proactively worked all Windows and VMware project related tasks. Tasks included troubleshooting and maintaining W2K, W2K3, W2K8 server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, VMWare ESX 3, 4 and 4i and GSX, VMware Client and Multi-client clusters of up to 25+ servers. Demonstrated ability to work issues with vendors such as VMware Critical Support, HP Onsite technicians and Citrix Support. Created Powershell scripts to automate tasks for VMware, DNS and SAN projects, reducing task time up to 98% while increasing accuracy. Experience with a wide variety of software and hardware platforms including but not limited to Altiris, HP, IBM, Dell, EMC and Cisco. Was publicly recognized for a presentation in front of 25 managers and directors; being involved in $9.7 million VMWare TCO project, and helped automate our VM Build process. Moved to our Emerging Technology group and headed up automation efforts to build self services websites to schedule VMware builds, refreshes and reports using ASP.NET, C#, SQL, PowerShell and VMWare PowerCLI.

Worked in both their internal technical support helpdesk and also in Sprint’s second tier support group TAG. Supported Citrix, Windows 2000 Network, Metaframe, Peoplesoft,, UNIX servers, and supported Windows and mainframe applications as a Technical Specialist. Contracted through K-Force for over a year of that time before being hired on full time. Was promoted to the TAG group where we provided assistance to the floor on difficult issues and took on escalated issues.

Solved client’s issues received on their internal helpdesk which included: Troubleshooting H & R Block’s proprietary software and basic Windows 95, ME, XP, 2000 Server and connectivity issues.

Set-up systems and networks. Administered NT, W2K and Exchange servers. Installed and supported clients with 95, 98 and W2K Pro. Installed and supported servers with NT, W2K Server and Advanced Server. Backed-up servers and network clients. Setup classes with network, internet, and printer connectivity. Installed various software from Adobe, Macromedia, Microsoft, Norton, MacAfee, and more.

Solved clients issues on a customer facing helpdesk which included: Installing Windows 95, 98, and Me, installing, configuring, testing, replacing computer components, troubleshooting modems, installing and basic troubleshooting of various printers, installing software, and answering other computer-related questions.
