- Integrated GIS, CAD, and time series simulation capabilities into software design tool for contingency base camps, and deployed it to the Joint force.- Managed a team of software developers and addressed software integration challenges across multiple IT products and military organizations as part of $10M/yr Joint Military Program. - Modeled integrated technology systems including solar PV, batteries, microgrids, HVAC systems with controls, wastewater recycling systems, and waste-to-energy generators, and transitioned research models into operational use.

- Developed a computer model of an off-grid military habitation and used optimization and time-series simulation for system-selection decisions among resource-saving technologies. Discovered that some systems together were more beneficial than the sum of their parts, and demonstrated the benefit of software decision support tools.- Developed energy-focused design methodologies and described applied research into energy systems of small unmanned aerial vehicles.

- Designed and fabricated subscale and full-scale buckling-restrained earthquake brace (BRB) with differentially heat-treated aluminum yielding element. Analyzed hysteresis curves from tension/compression tests and made appropriate design changes.- Produced composite material with liquid crystal polymer and carbon fiber. Designed and built material fabrication process and equipment. Designed and built specialized molds for hot-pressing.- Researched feasibility and built prototypes for energy harvesting project using piezoelectric stacks.- Pultruded Nitinol/Adiprene composite rods for large-scale shape-memory alloy project. Designed and built mold for vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM). Designed and built specialized gripping device to aid in tensile testing.
