I represent people accused of violations, misdemeanors, felonies, and probation and parole violations throughout Broome County, as well as appeals. On a typical day I make court appearances, review evidence, research the law, and prepare motions, all with the singular goal of defending my clients and preserving their rights.I have had substantial success having cases dismissed for speedy trial violations and facial insufficiency of the accusatory instrument. I regularly litigate parole violations and have obtained outcomes that include full acquittals and preventing clients from being re-classified as category one offenders.Below are some of the cases I have handled. These descriptions are meant only to illustrate my experience and the types of cases I have handled. They are not a guarantee that the same or similar results can be obtained in every matter, because each case stands on its own facts and circumstances.People v. S. K. -- Client was accused of violating the terms of his parole and the state wanted him to serve all the remaining 17 months of his sentence in state prison. Case was dismissed when my motion for judgment as a matter of law was granted.People v. K. T. -- Client was acquitted at trial of threatening to physically assault his son.People v. M.C. -- Client was a college student accused of multiple misdemeanors on campus. Pre-trial litigation led to all charges being dismissed.People v. A.B. -- Client was accused by his ex-wife of multiple offenses including harassment through social media, violating an order of protection, and sexual abuse of their daughter. He was acquitted at trial of the harassment; the order of protection charges were dismissed on pre-trial motion; and he was never prosecuted for the sexual abuse allegation.

I edited dissertations, theses, and journal articles, including citation checking, for international S.J.D, LL.M, and MBA students. My clients successfully defended dissertations and theses at Indiana University Robert H. Working under lead counsel in multiple-defendant, cross-border antitrust litigation on behalf of Spector Roseman Kodroff & Willis, I analyzed Korean-language documents to develop a trial narrative on the relationships among defendants; translated critical documents; and created spreadsheets of information on the most-important documents in English.

As a manager of translations of Korean and Japanese patent abstracts and patentability reports, I performed research of technical terminology and close parsing of legal argumentation in three languages to ensure that all work met our clients' high standards.

I helped review English-language sales contracts between a Japanese manufacturing company and a purchaser in The Phillippines, including issues related to representations, warranties, and variation of INCO terms. I also reviewed a legal services contract between a large Japanese retailer and an Indian law firm, attended Japanese court sessions in both criminal and civil proceedings, and networked with Japanese, American, and Australian attorneys.

Under the Tobacco Enforcement Unit in the Revenue Division, I conducted legal research, searched records, and drafted memoranda and motions for default and summary judgments (all successful). Additional work involved preparing responses to discovery requests in litigation to protect payments to the state in excess of $100 million.
