Senior Software Engineer
Implemented a number of engineering best practices within the System Management team that reduced merge issues with source code, and improved the development and design process using SCRUM methodologies.Participated in the implementation of a Service Based framework using Google Abstract Services in Java to replace the existing System Management layer for better code maintainability and reduce the number of retries and blocking calls in the existing architecture to improve performance and reliability.Fixed bugs in the System Management layer written in Java.Developed a Process Pool Management system in OTP for controlling Erlang process load on systems using concurrent threads. Pools could be started for individual Erlang applications to perform work that would be queued in ETS tables when the amount of work exceeded the limit of processes for a given pool. Enabled other OTP developers to created managed distributed applications quickly while maintaining a single point of control for system tuning and performance.Improved File Migration performance 8X using the Process Pool application to leverage file migration workflows and tasks.Developed an ETS table management system that was used to persist the state of OTP servers in the event of a crash/restart.Developed a System Checker application that could concurrently ascertain inconsistencies between the NameSpace and DataStores. Involved synchronizing results of two concurrent crawlers between two server components of the product.Developed NIFs for the servers implemented in C to interface with local Erlang nodesAssisted in developing a pseudo Erlang Node in C using erl_interface and threads.

Software Engineer
Moved from the QA department to work directly with Development as an Advanced Development Tools engineer. The focus of this position is to create and support advanced tools to be used by development engineers to ensure better and less buggy code gets rolled over to the test team each iteration of the development cycle. This involves specialized tools to ensure conformance and assertion based testing of the code before the code even reaches the source repositories. My current project is to create a distributed/self-aware framework to be used by both development and test engineers. For this project I've chosen to write the application in Erlang. It uses a distributed database so all the nodes participating in the environment will be aware of the state of other nodes. The benefit of this framework is that the internal logic will be able to run continuous testing based on available resources without the need for engineer involvement. As test are scheduled in the system, the main application will manage it's resources to determine when systems are idle and invoke various tests on these systems. The goal is to increase the amount of test coverage executed on a daily basis, make the most efficient use of limited lab resources while reducing the amount of oversight required by a test engineer, freeing them to tend to other pressing issues.
