I lead several small teams of software engineers who work on our new line of web application products at Aquaveo. These products include:* CityWater, a web application for visualizing EPANET municipal water distribution models,* AGWA, a web application for performing common workflows on hydrologic models, and* MODFLOW Server, a web application for visualizing MODFLOW models in a web environment.I regularly present at technical conferences and train scientists and engineers in web development fundamentals and Tethys Platform including workshops at Carollo Engineers, NASA SERVIR, and CUAHSI’s Summer Institute at the National Water Center.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama Area

I fulfilled an 8 month assignment at the National Water Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where I assisted with the development of the National Water Model, the Office of Water Prediction’s next generation flood and streamflow prediction system. I led a small team of GIS analysts and software developers in the Geo-Intelligence Division to develop experimental guidance and visualizations of the National Water Model output and a real-time publishing pipeline to update the visualizations whenever new data became available. I also oversaw the installation of an Esri ArcGIS Enterprise system at the National Water Center and co-lead a project tasked with developing a nation-wide, hydrologically-treated, terrain and bathymetry dataset to support modeling efforts within the Office of Water Prediction.

I was tasked with lowering the barrier for scientists and engineers to access modeling and computing infrastructure. My research focused on the development of Tethys Platform, which is a development and hosting environment for water resources web apps. I worked with students from three other universities including the University of Utah, Utah State University, and the University of Wyoming. CI-Water is an Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Track-2 project funded by the National Science Foundation.

I was responsible for correcting assignments and helping students with their questions. About half of the course curriculum was dedicated to Visual Basic programming in Microsoft Excel. Much of my time was spent debugging student programming assignments and explaining programming concepts. I also taught lecture on occasion when the professor was away.

I was responsible for collecting water samples at 9+ locations on the Deer Creek reservoir on a weekly basis and processing the samples in the lab. We performed the following tests in the lab: Total Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Phosphorus, Chlorophyll-a, and Chemical Oxygen Demand. I performed the latter three tests using a spectrophotometer. I also used 2 water quality sondes as part of the water quality monitoring. I learned how to operate a 20 ft pontoon boat including launching, retrieving, and towing on a trailer.For my research, I developed innovative ways to visualize and analyze large water quality datasets using exploratory statistical methods such as Principal Components Analysis and Cluster Analysis. I attended and presented at three conferences including EWRI 2012, AWRA 2012, and Spring Runoff 2012.

My job was to train and motivate callers at the BYU Annual Fund call center. I was responsible for 3-4 callers each semester. My responsibilities included weekly one-on-one meetings with each caller, supervising the calling floor, planning and executing motivational activities, and participating on a board of supervisors. I was also responsible for developing new scripts for the calling campaigns and assembling the call center statistics.

I graded assignments and answered student questions about assignments and software used in the class. The software that I helped students use included the Watershed Modeling System (WMS), Hydrologic Modeling System (HMS), and Gridded Surface Subsurface Hydrologic Analysis (GSSHA). I also verified the class tutorials with new versions of the software and taught lectures when the professor was away.

I work with the Shared development team at Aquaveo. The primary mission of the Shared team is to modernize and unify the codebase of the Aquaveo software products. However, my primary responsibility since starting has been to work on a contract that Aquaveo has with the Navy called Environment and Ship Motion Forecasting.
