Regular work hours consisted of observing and communicating with the staff in English and Chinese to develop lesson plans relevant to the needs of the employees such as pronunciation and vocabulary exercises along with role-playing activities to increase their confidence when communicating with English speaking guests. Listening quizzes were also administered to improve trainees’ ability to take accurate room service orders in English, specifically recognizing subtle differences in the pronunciation of room numbers.
