Nathan has been promoted to the position of Lead Process Engineer on the EPC Flue Gas Scrubbing Project in the Detailed Engineering Phase.In the position of Lead Process Engineer, Nathan’s role involves the management of the Process Engineering schedule and budget, inclusive of the Project Engineering, Procurement, and Construction in the Detailed Engineering Phase.As Lead, Nathan is primarily concerned with the finalisation of calculations, documents, and deliverables formulated in the earlier Project Phases for the Process Engineering End of Job Package. Additionally, he is the Process Engineer involved in the Construction and Commissioning on the Project.Nathan currently oversees three Process Engineering resources whom he delegates the tasks of updating deliverables for the End of Job Package as well as assist with site efforts as required to successfully deliver the Project. Nathan was permitted to serve as the primary Checker on many pieces of documentation originated by other Process Engineering Resources on the Project.Nathan was permitted to serve as the Process Engineer to authorise documents produced from other disciplines from a Process Engineering point of view inclusive of, but not limited to: Equipment Lists, Tie-In Point Lists, Line List, Control Narratives, etc.

Nathan served as a Process Engineer on an EPC Project centering around the removal of solid particulate matter from a flue gas originating from a catalytic cracking unit.As Process Engineer, Nathan’s primary role on the Project was the process engineering design of the process to meet client requirements which are in line with newly released environmental regulations.In the role, Nathan performed key calculations inclusive of, but not limited to: Mass and Energy Balances, Hydraulic Calculations, Utility Consumptions, and Line and Equipment Sizing. Nathan boasts experience in the use of process software such as the AFT suite (Fathom, Arrow, and Impulse), Aspen Suite (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, and EDR), and HTRI. Additionally, Nathan has developed an appreciable skill in the write-up of reports for effective communication of the results of calculations inclusive of, but not limited to: Hydraulic Reports, Process Design Basis, Operating Guidelines, and Utility Consumption Documents.Given his previous experience in the Project Engineering field, Nathan greatly served a dual role on the Project as both a Process and Project Engineer. He was designated the position of primary developer and controller of the Engineering Flow Diagrams (such as the Process Flow Diagrams, Material & Corrosion Flow Diagrams, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) as well as the Project Line List. Further to this, Nathan served the vital role of organizing and facilitating key project reviews such as HAZOPs, Model Reviews, Tie-in Safety Reviews, etc. thereafter managing the effective and timeous actioning of all comments across all disciplines that arose from the particular review.Nathan frequently collaborated with external Wood parties (such as the client, engineering package vendors, engineering consultants etc.) to facilitate the effective flow of information and ensure that the process is designed with the correct and optimized information.

Nathan fulfilled the role of Project Engineer on one of the largest EPC Tank Farm projects that was undertaken by Wood.As Project Engineer, Nathan’s primary role was the management of the Engineering and Design Teams, ensuring the smooth functioning of the project along its timeline. As such, the role was concerned with the oversight of the Project team, allowing vital project information to flow seamlessly through both the Wood Team and Client Team.In the role, Nathan delivered the following key pieces of documentation: Engineering Flow Diagrams (such as the Process Flow Diagrams, Material & Corrosion Flow Diagrams, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), Line Lists, Equipment Lists, Tie-in List, Requisition Indices, Deferred Items List, and Mechanical and Piping Contracts. Further to this, Nathan served the vital role of organizing and facilitating key project reviews such as HAZOPs, Model Reviews, Tie-in Safety Reviews, etc. thereafter managing the effective and timeous actioning of all comments across all disciplines that arose from the particular review.Nathan was designated the position of primary custodian of the change management process on the Project, ensuring all project alterations are reviewed for changes to design intent and safety considerations and thereafter making sure changes are captured, reported, and distributed to the appropriate parties, in keeping with Wood procedures.Nathan frequently collaborated with external Wood parties (such as the client, contractors, engineering package vendors, etc.) to facilitate the effective flow of information and ensure that the process is designed with the correct information.Additionally, Nathan worked closely with the Process Engineers on the Project. This involved assisting the lead Process Engineers in the carrying out of Process Engineering deliverables (including hydraulic calculations, process simulations, and report write-ups) and ensuring an optimized plant design was realized.

Nathan conducted work within the mineral processing consulting field for the undertaking of multi-commodity green- and brownfield projects across the globe. At Stark Resources, Nathan formed part of many Project Teams which handled the recovery of a wide array of minerals including, but not limited to: Spodumene and Pegmatite (lithium) deposits, Wolframite (tungsten) deposits, and Diamond deposits.As a Process Engineer, Nathan was directly responsible for the development and upkeep of the following Process Engineering roles: Process Design Criteria (PDC), Mechanical Equipment List (MEL), Process Flowsheets in the form of Block Flow (BFD), Process Flow (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Mass and Energy Balances, Equipment and Piping Sizing, Datasheets, and Report Writing. Additionally, he organized and facilitated key project reviews including Hazard and Operability (HAZOPs) Reviews, Safety Integrity Level (SILs), and Model Reviews. Furthermore, he engaged with equipment, OEM, and chemical vendors as well as process test work providers to directly discuss process requirements and oversee recommended equipment pieces and process conditions.Nathan boasts experience in site visits for equipment installation, maintenance, and process adjudication for brown- and greenfield projects. He is aptly able to investigate plant performance to ensure compliance to designed specifications, providing consultation services on deviations from designed specifications as well as identify future optimization opportunities.Additionally, he partook in day-to-day business development proceedings.
