In my current position I function as the Safety Manager for the Southern Region asphalt plant and mining sites where I support about 25 separate union crews at different locations. I started my military career as a general construction equipment operator. In 2008 I was retrained an a combat engineer and that is the classification that I held until I was discharged. My unit was out of Dodgeville, WI and I was a squad leader with 16 Soldiers under me including 3 sergeants. My experiences in the military have given me vast experienc in leadership, project management, communication, and time management. I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 and this experience helped to shape me as a person.

2009 was a tough year to graduate from college and start my professional career. Harley Davidson was not able to keep me on after my internship and the bills were not going to pay themselves. I applied for a job at the acetylene plant down the street from my apartment and got an entry level position. I look back on my time there and really appreciate the in depth knowledge that I gained while working with explosive compressed gas.My responsibilities included:- Produced acetylene gas and filled acetylene cylinders- Sorted compressed gas tanks- Checked tanks for defects and lapsed safety test dates
