Outreach Specialist
I provide intensive case management to those who are unhoused and those who seek out resource services in the Arlington/Smokey Point area. I am with the ROW program which is a new program in Snohomish County that was created to try to bring services to unhoused clients who are parked in local rest stops. I offer resource knowledge and peer support to those that may have a hard time going to in-person appointments. My goal is to familiarize clients with resources and build rapport with them, so they will feel more comfortable coming into the resource center and getting the help they need. Housing, utility assistance, rental assistance, gas vouchers, food assistance, clothing, and essential needs items are some of the things we can provide. If a client has a positive goal in mind, we do our best to come alongside them and support them, whether it's to help them obtain employment or find the resources that best fit them. Our outreach is action-focused and designed to truly help and make our communities a better place. I am able to assist my outreach clients with all the services offered so we can plan for success, and if our agency is unable to provide something, we will connect them with someone who can. We are driven by each client's unique ideas of success and how we can help guide them to an improved condition of life.
Street Outreach Specialist
I worked with a team to provide outreach services for unhoused clients all over Skagit Valley. I worked in Concrete three days weekly and in Mount Vernon for two days, providing basic needs and resources to clients by meeting them where they are at. I also offered Recovery services to anyone who showed interest, using a trauma-informed approach in all interactions. Whether it was rides to treatment or making phone calls with folks to begin services, I provided the help people needed to make their first steps towards a better life. I kept track of clients and where they were at, maintained a running list and assisted clients in helping them meet their goals. I distributed food, clothing, tents, resource knowledge, community support, and more. I organized outreach pop-up events in rural areas where it is often harder for folks to get services because of their location. I worked with community partners to better assist individuals with their needs, because I believe we are all stronger together. I am dedicated to doing what I can to support those who are unhoused, those with mental illness, those who are recently incarcerated or dealing with the justice system, and those who are seeking recovery. I treat every client with respect, compassion and understanding and I am determined to help make a difference in my community every day.
Residential Treatment Specialist
I monitor clients in a residential setting while they are detoxing from drugs and alcohol. I help provide a safe place for them to get sober while making sure their needs are met as far as food, shelter, and substance use services like outpatient, inpatient treatment, housing and medically assisted treatment such as Suboxone or Methadone. I do vitals for all residents and monitor them while they self-administer medication. I keep logs of all the clients and what they are doing throughout the day. I make sure they are following the rules in a respectful and non-judgemental way. I provide clients with resources for housing, treatment, mental health and physical health services, and help them make appointments they need to make while they are in the facility. I schedule each client’s medications and make sure they are taking them. I do intakes and discharges for clients coming and going on a daily basis, and make sure they sign and complete all intake paperwork via our computer system. I use computers daily to complete necessary paperwork for clients through Microsoft word and our company’s computer system where we document client’s intake and discharge notes, the medication they take daily, and releases of information, among other things. My favorite part of my job is getting to know all the clients and helping them with whatever their individual needs are. I think each of them is valuable and capable of a successful and positive future. I hold no judgements towards any of them, only compassion and belief in each one of them. I love working in the human services field and would love to continue my passion for helping others.
