At present I represent 700 employees in Ericsson on an Information and Consultation committee. This committee requires employers to inform employees of and consult with them on developments which may affect their employment or working conditions and, in particular, on decisions likely to lead to substantial changes in the company. I was elected to this position by the employees. My duties include presenting ideas and concerns to the committee. The committee consists of 11 members including the CEO of Ericsson Ireland. This role suitably reflects my personality as a person as I have a keen interest in presenting new ideas to higher level management and possess the initiative to do so. Other duties include discussing employees’ concerns regarding changes in the workplace, changing work practices and changing work environment. Top management like to hear these concerns through a representative and decisions are then made through the committee as to how to go about allaying these concerns.

The position involved developing a new Ericsson Telecommunication Product in an outsourced company in India. The team was 8 designers and 2 feature testers. The product was developed in the agile philosophy. Ericsson informed that the product should developed in a cost efficient way and India was chosen as a way of accomplishing that goal.It was my duty to see the vision of the product and develop the product to that vision.Duties at the start of project involved gathering requirements,informing the remote team of the skills they will require and writing user stories for the first iteration. This requires me to have a complete overview of how the team is operating. The role also includes bug fixing that would come from feature test or load test.My role includes mentoring 3 new employees who have joined the team. This requires introducing and building their competence in the products, planning and delivering features, reviewing their code for bug fixes.

Developing software in J2SE for the WCDMA mobile network. XML files are used in these products to configure the database. It parses the XML files using a SAX parser. The database represents the WCDMA network. This database is then used by all applications in the Ericsson OSS system. The software runs on a Unix platform.The applications are integrated into an Eclipse RCP User Interface. This role involved analysing software impacts on new features and impacts from other products. It is then required to implement software designs and test the new features in the products. Various third party products and open source applications such as spring framework, active mq, sax parser, eclipse RCP, junit framework are used in these products. The role also includes trouble shooting bugs that have been found duringdevelopment by the feature testers.

Updating and maintenance of Solaris Unix servers on Sun Microsystem servers. These servers are used by Design and Feature Test for development for the Ericsson OSS System. This required designing innovative scripts to help speed up the test server setup time. It involved trouble shooting problems that would arise as part of the environment setup.

Development of OSSRC software products which are used to configure Ericsson Mobile and Broadband networks. This software is used by the likes of Vodafone, O2 and Meteor. I was in charge of 2 products. I was the designer and tester of the products. My primary duty was to keep the production of the product to a high quality and ensure consistent delivery times. This gave me a complete insight into the product development process used in Ericsson. I was required to attend meetings in order to analyse software impacts on my products. This product operated on the Unix platform in a user interface.
