• Prepare protocol for research extension of current CDC and Universidad del Valle de Guatemala pregnant women cohort study to include assessment of the preventative role of vaccination on respiratory illnesses. The goals of the study include: 1) Assessment of vaccination status of pregnant women and their infants in a mainly Mayan study population, relative to Guatemala Ministry of health recommendations and policy. 2) Evaluation of any association of vaccination status of the mother and child with respiratory illnesses during pregnancy in the mother and during the first six months of life in the infant. • Create statistical models using SAS and Excel to predict and reflect the complex systematic causal factors behind the high respiratory illnesses in pregnant women and infants in the region.
