With a global upbringing spanning three continents, Nava has a passion for environmental sustainability, and climate adaptation & resilience. Born and raised on the island of Saipan in the South Pacific, she has firsthand experience of the issues that plague developing nations and indigenous communities. Nava has witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of natural disasters on communities. The typhoons that swept through the islands during her life not only threatened the stability of populations but also disrupted essential infrastructure, leaving people without electricity and running water for months. This personal experience has instilled in her a profound understanding of the urgent need for climate resilience and adaptation, as the world grapples with the increasing frequency and intensity of such events due to climate change. Upon successful completion of a Bachelors of Arts in Criminology and Spanish, Nava returned home to the Pacific to serve her community. She worked as a Legislative Aide for the Committee of Health and Welfare and the Committee of Education and the Workforce in the CNMI House of Representatives. Nava’s focus was on creating and strengthening sustainable government-backed programs. Nava recently earned her LL.M. in Public International Law and Human Rights, and is open to work in the field of climate change and environmental sustainability.
