    Singapore, Sg
In this role since 2017, have been sourcing for dealflows for the GP via speaking at confs outside of SEA about SEA/CN, judging in SEA to source startups that are in SEA or outside of SEA coming into SEA, meeting investors in SEA keen in SEA deals to intro them to the investment team in Shanghai or directly intro to the startups & looping the investment team in to followup, meeting investors outside of SEA keen in SEA deals either via investment team or directly intro to startup with team looped in.I spoke in PK conf in 2019 before the pandemic to do due diligence on the startups there and that led to over 17 investments during the pandemic which helped SOSV to continue operating despite COVID.Other than sourcing deals & referring investors to grow the startups, also work with corps across the region to do partnerships in Biz Dev to match and intro startups invested with market access via corps who are looking for solutions that are either already proven with the portfolio or can be custom with the alumni based on problem statements to solve. This corp engagements can then be scaled to investments for those with CVC, or even M&A as exit for startup (case study from ID to IN for 7x).Other than supply chain of startup to corp so syndicate investors get investable solutions in demand by the market, also source for LPs to the fund, mainly from gov in SEA, with pipeline of over $30m.Moving up the value chain of corp engagement is CorpInnovation programs for specific problems & nego with C-level for regional MNC while working with backoffice shared support services to close.Asides from the core biz, also scout for Mentors in the market to intro to the program team to support portfolio in various engagements. Have also produced mobile programs to offer value to the portfolio by taking them on mobile MBA to understand the market they target while expanding their biz by making intros to corp that will allow them to expand in new markets, crossing geos.
  • Sosv
    Sea Director
    Sosv Jan 2017 - Nov 2023
    Princeton, New Jersey, Us
SOSV spans the globe with nearly 1000 startups operating in 60 countries. SOSV is a global, multi-stage venture capital firm that operates early stage startup development programs, notably HAX, IndieBio, and Orbit Startups. SOSV’s core mission is to fund tech founders who will have an impact. As of January 2023, SOSV had more than $1.5 billion in assets under management. Each year, SOSV selects 100 or more promising, seed and pre-seed startups to join SOSV’s programs. SOSV makes an initial investment and the founders spend months working side-by-side with SOSV staff and mentors who are deeply expert design and product development, supply chain and product-market fit, growth, and raising capital. The goal in each program is to help each startup prove out their value by getting increased marketplace traction, and increased clarity about their product’s value and positioning to solve problems. At that point, fundraising progress becomes relatively easy, and seed and Series A rounds attract top venture investors.SOSV joins those later rounds and SOSV general partners continue working closely with the program alums for years post-program. In 2022, SOSV portfolio companies raised $2.0 billion in follow-on rounds, and SOSV participated in 161 of those rounds as well as more than 100 pre-seed rounds for startups that joined SOSV programs. According to Pitchbook, SOSV was the most active seed and angel investor in the world in 2020 and 2021, and third most active in 2022.SOSV’s startup development programs include hard tech-oriented HAX and human-and-planetary-health driven IndieBio. At Orbit Startups (successor to Chinaccelerator and MOX announced in July 2022), growth experts help entrepreneurs expand globally from faster emerging and frontier markets.
