🟩 I got this job because of my education, public speaking skills, and talent as an author. I taught the first English Civic Education course in Korea, using my master's degree in political science to offer students knowledge of civic obligation based on President Kennedy's idealism. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy wrote me a letter of commendation, and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Admiral Stavridis, lauded me for my approach to civic education.🟩In addition, I taught Ethics of the Future: Analyzing Science Fiction Films, a course that used Star Trek to teach students about moral philosophy. Author Susan Sackett, a former executive assistant to Gene Roddenberry, praised this course for being the first Star Trek class in Korea. It was a challenge at the start because Star Trek was almost unknown in Korea and the DVDs did not have Korean subtitles. I overcame that challenge by switching to Netflix, which does. 🟩I also taught Rhetoric & Composition and English courses that included novels by Charles Dickens. In addition, at the university's academic writing clinic, I counselled students from many nations and edited manuscripts for Korean lecturers. I also investigated cultures and academic standards to better understand students' individual needs, personalising mentorship and advice and therefore received excellent evaluations. 🟩Finally, I significantly boosted the ability of students to write in English and gain admission to the best universities in Canada.
