NOT looking for job offers, NOT working with external recruiters for any reason, thanks for saving my time!IF YOU ARE EXCITED TO TELL ME ABOUT POSITION AT OUTSOURCE OR OUTSTAFF COMPANY I MAY BAN YOU PERMANENTLY WITHOUT WARNING.Active contributor to many Open Source projects, here is a list of well known projects I contributed code to that you may recognize:jQuery, Linux Kernel, HHVM, Polymer, WebComponents.js, ownCloud, fabric.js, PulseAudio, TinyMCE, WebTorrent, Emscripten, lodash, Redux, PHP, simple-peer, pfSense, mediasoup, GStreamer, Substrate, libp2p...Can easily be found on GitHub, focusing on blockchain protocols.I like to watch movies (my rate is ~100/year not including excluding numerous TV series), listen to quality music (a lot) and play video games (very very rarely lately). No longer have time for books, but generally enjoy reading, though nowadays mostly specialized blogs/communities online.Sometimes hacking on hardware (like custom keyboards and firmware), computer hardware (designing custom PC case from specs from scratch), etc.Other: my favorite drink is tea, libertarian (anarcho-capitalist), god doesn't exist.

Blockchain Protocol ResearcherSubspace Foundation Dec 2024 - PresentResearching next-gen blockchain protocol design and (hopefully) implementing it -
Co-FounderSubspace Labs Jan 2023 - Dec 2024Palo Alto, California, UsAbolished titles.Helped to design Subspace Protocol (including Proof-of-Archival-Storage consensus, networking stack and most other critical parts).Responsible for architecture, implemented and maintained majority of the reference implementation of the Substrate-based consensus node (base consensus, history archiving, heavily optimized version of Chia Proof-of-Space table creation, Proof-of-Time upgrade, etc.), farmer software (heavily multi-threaded high-performance software aware of CPU topology like NUMA and caches, with low-level unbuffered disk access and able to work both as a standalone software on a single machine and as a cluster application in LAN environment), libp2p-based networking stack for distributed storage network (DSN).To simplify user experience created unofficial Space Acres GTK4-based GUI application that wraps node and farmer libraries into easy to use cross-platform (Windows, Linux and macOS) native desktop application with various convenience feature (like automatic resizing based on free disk space, automatic crash recovery, desktop notifications, etc.). Application was later promoted to become an official and recommended software for new users.A lot of upstream code contributions to projects like Substrate (Polkadot-SDK), libp2p, Relm4 and many others based on features needed and bugs discovered.Close to 100% of the work is Open Source on GitHub.Led implementation all the way to successful launch of Autonomys Network mainnet in December 2024. -

Protocol EngineerSubspace Labs Aug 2018 - Jun 2021Palo Alto, California, UsCore protocol engineer, networking and a bit of cryptography.Initially a lot of prototyping of various components for blockchain in TypeScript:* rewriting of various primitives to TypeScript like red-black-tree with disk or memory backing, jump-consistent hash, rendezvous hash, etc.* porting libraries from other languages via compilation to WebAssembly like Reed-Solomon erasure coding, verifiable delay function (VDF), etc.* a lot of prototyping of blockchain components including networking, storage, consensus piecesLater more work on various experiments with simulations and benchmarking in Rust as part of the research process. Building of encoding and farming software, use of with AES intrinsics and FFI with C (VAES on Ice Lake) to utilize full potential of hardware AES-NI instructions for faster farming and estimating required security parameters of the protocol. A bit of experimentation with OpenCL to expore parallelization and potential performance wins on GPU (both AMD and Nvidia).Afterwards implementation of Spartan protocol in Rust using Parity Substrate framework as part of Web3 Foundation grant program. Most of the work is either public already or will be public at https://github.com/subspace -
Lead Software EngineerRestream, Inc. Jul 2018 - Aug 2021Austin, Tx, UsCreated from scratch, re-written/completely re-architected or co-authored a lot of core backend services/features/products with focus on scale and reliability with Rust and TypeScript:* Studio (more below)* Recording features both in Studio for split track recordings and for regular streaming as the whole* Streaming statuses system that collects and unifies status of the stream both internally and on end platforms, latency reduction measured in orders of magnitude* Aggregated chat from supported end platforms for combining messages, facilitating communication across paltforms and collecting statistics about chat usage for every live stream, significant latency reductions, massive scalability and reliability improvements* Main website: multiple performance improvements, long overdue major framework upgrades, creation of various core building blocks, billing system revamp, large-scale migration to updated pricing model* Minor streaming updates related to RTMP and custom in-house FTL ingests and related managing/controlling software* Monthly/yearly reports across the whole user base were re-writted with multiple orders of magnitude reduction in time required time to produce report for all users and with lower memory usage as well10x+ processing time or latency reduction happened multiple times as processing requirements were growing. Managed to get my hands dirty in every major area of Restream ecosystem (studio, website, chat, streaming, public api, etc.) with valuable contributions.Wrote from scratch all backend pieces and client-side SDK for one of the most interesting, challenging and promising products of the company - Restream Live Studio.Significant amount of tooling was created for the rest of the team to use, shared knowledge with internal presentations about new and less known technologies in use. -
