Profile bio

About Md. Nazmul Huda

My research focuses on the interactions between gene, nutrient, gut microbiota, microbial metabolites, immunity, and stress. In my postdoctoral research, I am exploring the genetic predisposition of cardiovascular diseases and how diet and microbiota modulation these diseases using systems genetics approach in diversity outbreed (DO) mouse models at Obesity and Metabolism Research Unit, Western Human Nutrition Research Center (WHNRC), USDA-ARS, located at University of California, Davis. My doctoral research was conducted at Immunity and Disease Prevention Research Unit, WHNRC, USDA-ARS in collaboration with the Departments of Food Science & Technology at University of California, Davis and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b). In my doctoral research, I determined the effect of neonatal vitamin A supplementation on the early life gut microbial colonization and the association between gut microbiota and infant’s vaccine response. I also analyzed how early life salivary cortisol responsiveness is associated with gut microbial composition and infant’s immunity.Specialties: Systems genetics, microbiota, metabolomics, transcriptomics, epMotion robotics, QIIME2, cloud computing, HPC, T-cell, vaccine response, R, QTL2, WGCNA, LEfSe, Phyloseq, randomForest, PICRUSt, flow cytometry, flowJo, cortisol responsiveness, ELISA, Vitamin A

Listed skills include Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, Microbiota, R, and 26 others.
