Postdoctoral FellowUniversity Of South Carolina Aug 2014 - Feb 2015Columbia, Sc, UsProject : Beam Steering Phased Array -- Designed, modeled, analyzed and build prototypes of electrically beam steering phased antenna array at 2.45GHz and 5GHz for body wearable communication. --A series-fed varactor controlled scanning array concept was introduced for microstrip patch antennas. Such arrays utilize much simpler identical phase shifters. The phase shifters are made using branch-line couplers loaded with two varactors. Controlling the varactor bias changes the varactor impedance which in turn provides the necessary phase for the antenna. However, there are challenges with this approach which include antenna matching as function of varactor bias and the limit in operational capability as the array grows larger in size.Other Duties:• Published research articles in IEEE Journals and Magazines• Presented research results at different IEEE conferences• Assisted in Research Grant proposals and Technical Reports writing• Supervised and led a group of PhD and MSC students in research and publications -
