This promotion meant a lot to me because this designation is the most suitable for my skills and the roles / the work I have been doing for all these years since I was in Chase. Database administration is a perfect blend of my skills that helps me immensely when it comes to performance tuning. The knowledge of data modeling / data architecture comes so much important not just when I build a new database or system but also when people ask me to work with legacy systems or to optimize them.

• Design and develop new database models and database objects to support different ETL integrations, Reports and Web applications• Administer all SQL server databases, 2008, 2012 ,2014 and 2016, planning patching and upgrades.• Dimensional data modeling for the central data mart. • Extensive hands one experience on Transactional data modeling.• Experienced in supporting database audit by large auditing firms like PWC.• Automation is one key motivation and developed several SQL jobs to achieve the same in Redwood. • Performance tuning is one key roles in this job responsibility which including SQL tuning, database performance tuning, Index restructuring, Missing index analysis and also design custom database maintenance plans to keep the database in sync with data growth.• Well experienced managing vendor team including off shore teams, like TCS, DataVail. • Design security model to safe guard data, jobs, reports and user access. This includes designing and managing various roles in SQL Server and Oracle databases • Support SSRS developers by helping on SQL performance tuning, redesign of data extraction layer etc• Release management including deployments, change management and SVN (now migrated to TFS) code base management

I was part of a great team in Chase and worked under few great skilled managers. Two years of extensive PL/SQL development, Transactional data modeling and performance tuning was the key responsibility. With design and development of a new application, I was also leading a data migration project where I was managing vendor resource in TCS. Core Activity:• Owning the entire data model which was designed and build from scratch to production which gave me a great opportunity to learn every minor details about data modeling, attribute standardization, subject area design, logical and physical model design using naming file, presenting both models to Data Review Board in Chase. • Worked extensively as PL/SQL development lead in Oracle 11g where entire transaction database was developed supporting a multi threaded web application capable of performing million transactions hour, the biggest challenge was performance optimization.• SQL performance tuning, estimation of new database sizing and growth was also part of critical delivery for estimating the database infrastructure cost projection. • I was also managing the code migration from production to staging , QA, DEV in sync with releases.• A complete data migration project was handled by me while leading the vendor resource for the same. This project was a hard core PL/SQL based data migration where we had to migrate data from the previous version of application to the new one we just developing. Data field mapping, defining and mapping valid values and most critical was handing all data exceptions and resolving them based on business decision. Hence the migration logic was build in such a way that it was flexible enough to incorporate the business decisions for every exceptions. • Used to take part in Project status meetings and planning with application development Managers to support the estimation, vendor resourcing and delivery timeline.

The project I worked in Intergraph, now Hexagon, was a GIS domain product called G/Technology. The primary role was mixed between DBA and Developer. Depending on the requirement, the tasks were given to manage database, design data models or deliver a new package for functions for customers. The primary activities were as follows1. Configure new / customer databases for product customization team, QA team and or build and manage database templates based on product versions. 2. Performance tuning was also a major and frequent activity for internal and customer databases. It involves mostly SQL tuning or restructuring indexes , analyze missing indexes, design customized database maintenance plans etc. 3. Developed several Oracle packages and functions for customization when needed. 4. Also worked on few SQL servers as part of above activities which gave me good opportunity to learn about SQL server concepts and architecture. 5. Design new data model was mostly manual and used to be supporting any customization. There was no tool for this activity as it used to be small scale design.

This was the beginning of my journey in IT industry. Satyam used to have a great training program for college pass outs. The training was three months long and rigorous, covered important concept of SDLC, Web application architecture, DBMS including Oracle and SQL server database. I started with a Pharma project in L2 and L3 support role where I was got great opportunity to learn about Oracle database objects , perform data analysis and understand the database interaction with Web application, web service and other batch jobs. With learning new database concepts, started working with Bug fixes in PL/SQL code, work on enhancements , developing new procedures , functions etc. This project has ample opportunely to learn about database development, SQL performance considerations and learn about coding best practices.
