Welcome to the Yield Nerd – do it yourself guide to yield accumulation and management. This is an educational show about how to set up your savings to deliver additional income – or yield, as the professionals call it. We do not recommend specific vendors, specific trades or sell merchandise. We will first teach you the basics of yield, and then build on that over our episodes. We will walk you through executing specific transactions such as understanding and executing bond trades of different kinds - treasuries, zeroes, corporates, agency bonds and municipal bonds. We will then show you, step by step, how to analyze individual preferred stocks and their conversion ratios, make stock trades, etc. We will discuss other higher risk yield opportunities, such as trusts, limited partnerships and more. Most importantly, we will teach you how to pick between all of these alternatives at a given point in time based on risk and tax-adjusted yield, of course! We will try our best to illustrate how to execute the exact steps you will need to take in each of the popular brokerage platforms available today. We are agnostic to the brokerage firm and the entity whose bond you are buying.
