My duties and responsibilities in my role as a GIS Specialist include, but are not limited to, maintaining and updating various layers, maintaining and updating documentation regarding the various projects that I have been assigned, and fulfilling requests for maps and data from both internal and external clients. I am also a member of the Address Team, where I assist customers with various address related requests, including assigning, changing, and verifying addresses as well as reserving street names for future development. As of October 2023, I have been leading the training classes on the Planning Department's web application PGAtlas, https://www.pgatlas.com/.

I did some freelance writing, where I took on assignment requests from clients online. I was paid for each item that I submitted.

Rockville, Maryland

I worked on a variety projects for the City of Rockville's Department of Public Works. I participated in the Pavement Inventory Project, where I digitized over 4000 road markings on City owned roads using the City's aerial imagery and street view and satellite imagery in Google Maps for verification purposes. In addition to the Pavement Inventory Project, I reproduced and updated previously made Department maps in order to provide accurate data for process analysis and decision-making. I also assisted City employees with basic geospatial processes in ArcMap.

Baltimore, Maryland Area

I worked on the Guardrails and Traffic Barriers Project for the client, the Maryland State Highway Administration (MD SHA). For the Project, I post processed points that represented the ends of guardrails, called End Treatments, that were collected using Survey 123 along roads maintained by the MD SHA. I used street view and satellite imagery for verification purposes for post processing the End Treatment points. I also digitized guardrails, bridge parapets, barriers, and road delineators along roads maintained by the MD SHA in an editor web application on ArcGIS Online, which I verified using street view and satellite imagery as well.

Baltimore, Maryland Area

I worked part-time tutoring students who received financial aid and had learning disabilities in a one-to-one setting. Some of the subjects that I tutored were English, Sociology, Psychology, History, Physical Geography, Environmental Science, and Spanish. I recorded the time that I spent with my students in the database software Blumen.

Reisterstown, Maryland

In order to get some hands-on experience in GIS, I completed a year-long internship in emergency management. For this internship, I worked on various GIS projects, giving me practical experience in the field. For one project, I participated in the development of a draft version of a story map web application on ArcGIS Online of updated hurricane evacuation routes in Maryland as required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). I also prepared training documents, guides, drills, and a YouTube video about an updated version of MDEM’s web application, Operational and Situational Preparedness for Responding to an Emergency (OSPREY). I led a training session for MDEM employees to learn about using the updated OSPREY application. In addition, I produced maps to be used in emergency planning for disaster assessment. I helped in the creation of an online crowdsource application that the public could use to report incidents of damage, debris, and flooding as well.

Baltimore, Maryland Area

I served as a first point of contact to customers of the library, where I helped them in searching for audio and visual materials, paying fines and fees, and getting new or replacement library cards. I also helped customers with other services of the library, including using the public computers as well as printing and faxing documents. I also went through the library's inventory and helped to withdraw worn and uncirculated items.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

I examined applications sent in by members of the Society to place markers on the graves and tombstones of patriots and soldiers of the American Revolution. I also answered questions members had about the markers via telephone and email.

Ellicott City, Maryland

I worked as a cashier in a retail setting. I primarily used the Target cashiering computer system for transactions. I encouraged guests of the store to obtain a Red Card, the Target credit and debit card, and to use Cartwheel, the mobile Target coupon app, to help them save on their purchases. My dedication to providing guests with friendly and efficient customer service was shown by how I consistently earned excellent ratings in customer service from online customer service surveys.

Ellicott City, Maryland

I checked in, organized, and shelved audio and visual materials that customers of the library returned daily. On occasion, I would assist customers who were searching for books, video tapes, cassettes, DVDS, and CDs.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

A semester long internship that gave me some hands-on experience in an archival setting and non-profits. I digitized and organized both physically and electronically the archival collection of the Ford's Theate Society. The archives were centered around the work done by the Society's founder. I took the opportunity to become engaged in and network with some of the employees of the Society by "shadowing" them and setting up informational interviews with them to give me suggestions as I advanced in my career.
