Dr Nynke Brouwer has been a lawyer since 2011. She has a strong background in liability and insurance law. From that perspective, she specializes in cyber security, data protection, and incident response services. She has specific knowledge in the field of cyber insurance. Additionally, she has extensive experience with advising and litigating for a wide range of clients, including insurers and brokers, healthcare institutions and governments. In 2021, Nynke was awarded the national title of Legal Woman of the Year (www.legalwomen.nl).In that same year, Nynke received her PhD from Radboud University for her dissertation 'A Legal Perspective on Cyber Insurance' (in Dutch: 'De cyberverzekering vanuit civielrechtelijk perspectief'), which was published by Wolters Kluwer. Nynke wrote her dissertation as an external PhD candidate in four years, alongside her work as a lawyer. Nynke remains affiliated with the Radboud Business Law Institute as a research fellow.As an ancillary position, Nynke is chair of the Technical Committee Cyber, which is part of the Dutch Insurance Exchange Association (VNAB). She has written numerous research papers and case commentaries on cyber insurance, cyber security and data protection. She has been an invited speaker at many national and international conferences and symposia, including INTERSCT, PI.lab, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), the Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL), One Conference and the Academy of European Law (ERA).Nynke is also a lecturer for the post-academic specialization courses Grotius Privacy Law (Radboud University) and Cybercrime & Cybersecurity (Leiden University), and a member of the editorial board of the Dutch-Belgian academic journal ‘Computerrecht’.Nynke is a member of the Association for Liability and Compensation Law (VASR), the Association for Insurance Science (VVVW) and the Privacy Law Association (VPR).https://www.stibbe.com/en/people/n/nynke-brouwer
