In Novo Nordisk, my main responsibility was to identify optimization possibilities within the organization. I developed a production planning system in Python for the manufacturing of the plastic components in insulin pens, co-created the models and implementation in C# for the design of the internal supply chain network between production and packaging facilities, and supported other operations researchers in different departments on mathematical models and performance improvements of implementations. I was also part of an internal team that provides strategic advice to management on the direction to steer the company towards for the future usage of digitalization, automation and data science. Furthermore, I also collaborated with academia by co-supervising student interns and master's thesis students.

During this employment I was looking at contact based restriction policies during an epidemic breakout, and how to combine optimization with epidemiology to limit the spread of a virus. A mixed integer non-linear programming model was used to divide a population into groups, such that the number of distinct contacts was minimized. An agent-based simulation was developed that took the self-isolation recommendations into account. The model and simulation was applied to a study case that showed that limiting the mixture of the population had a greater effect than limiting group sizes.

Projects: May 2019 - August 2019, MaCom A/S, Fullstack DeveloperMaCom has started an Operations Research / Data Science project in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark and the University of Southern Denmark. In this project I work on an extension of an existing web application, where the users input the data that the researchers need. I implemented an agile development life cycle of the system, with continuous integration and delivery. The project I worked on, during my postdoctoral research position, wascarried out in collaboration with Region Zealand. The project focused on theformulation of a mathematical programming model for workforce planning of the medical staff at hospitals. The model was implemented in Python using Gurobi to solve themodel. I was in charge of the development of the models, algorithms and data preprocessing tools. During my PhD I worked on a joint project between the Technical Universityof Denmark, MaCom A/S and Aarhus University. MaCom is the provider of Lectio, a cloud-based administration software used by the high-schools in Denmark. In the project I developed mathematical programming models and algorithms for automatically planning courses at universities. Our main customer was Ørsted (former Dong Energy), where we implemented new features for them in an in-house software for the optimization of offshore cabling layouts. My main task was to develop an optimization tool for laying cables in offshore wind farms together with another data scientist. The tool was based on a prior research project conducted during my studies for the M.Sc. and was implemented as a plugin for Excel in C# with XAML and WinForms. Our tasks also involved to gather data, price forecasts and weather forecasts from different departments. The solution method was based on mathematical programming based heuristics. My primary tasks consists of the development of applications in the .NET environment with MS SQL integration for the customers of Agitude. Furthermore I am also part of other aspects of the projects such as design and architecture.
