This was incorporated in multiple international projects on emerging diseases and used for patient diagnostics in medical centers. This method was received with great enthusiasm by doctors as it cut costs for patient diagnostics.• Developed syndrome based diagnostic flowcharts for use in hospitals to support (travel) doctors in patient diagnostics. I received much positive feedback in these charts and they have been implemented in hospitals worldwide. • Extracted, cleaned and streamlined diagnostic data from three large patient diagnostic systems and build a new database for use in syndrome based public health surveillance of infectious diseases. This method was so successful it performed better than current WHO-based method and was expanded to European level (grant application successful). • Successfully conducted multiple diagnostic studies on vector-borne disease outbreaks in horses, birds, dogs and humans.• Participated in advising the government on risks to public health during outbreaks of potentially zoonotic diseases (Zika virus, Usutu virus, Chikungunya virus, Dengue virus) in animals and humans.• Designed, developed and validated multiple routine diagnostic tests for diagnosis of BSL3/ML3 organisms.• Participated in international grant applications for international projects, with success. • Assisted in building a new research group and designing appropriate laboratories after moving of the research team to a new location.• Training new employees, technicians and students in laboratory techniques and research.
