About Natalie Coleman

Howdy! I will be starting a civil engineering position at the US Army Corps of Engineer- Southwestern Division Regional Planning and Environmental Center. I graduated with my PhD in civil engineering at Texas A&M University, supported by the NSF Graduate Research Fellow and P.E.O. Scholar. I have 7 years of research experience in infrastructure resilience using data science to measure recovery trends, identifying the extent of spatial and social vulnerabilities, and measuring exposure to environmental health impacts. I was previously a research assistant at Urban Resilience.AI, a lab that focuses on interdisciplinary solutions for community and infrastructure resilience. This work has leveraged big data to capture disruptions in critical facilities, promote data transparency in the collection of service outages, and integrate human values in infrastructure restoration. My special interests include mentoring undergraduate students, advocacy for undergraduate research, and science outreach in K-12. I am an alumni member of the Bill Anderson Fund (BAF), Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure Graduate Student Council (NHERI-GSC), Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), and Terry Foundation. Please reach out if you are interested in collaborating with any of these organizations or have questions about these programs.
