I was assigned to their "Our Children Return Home" project which is funded solely by donations from volunteers like myself to construct housing solutions for the families of critically ill children in Santiago, Chile. For this project, I worked on homes for 2 different families from 2 different districts (Lo Espejo & La Pintana), and ultimate beneficiaries were 2 boys with special needs. My team and I created a clean and safe environment for these boys to return home to by filling walls with insulation, re-running the electrical, measuring & putting up dry wall, laying out hardwood floors, and finishing with mold resistant materials. This was an extremely humbling experience; I lent my muscles for a just a short period that resulted in a lifetime of positive change for 2 deserving kids.
