Provide consulting services to Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) on how to apply Additive Manufacturing technologies more effectively to reach neighboring schools, increase interdepartmental activities and improve services to industry partners.

• Performed numerous segmentation operations on patient CT data, converting it to STL files using MIMICS software for design of patient specific instrumentation.• Designed patient specific instruments using 3-MATIC software for various cases to be used during knee, hip and shoulder replacement surgeries.• Assisted with preparing flow diagrams, procedures and forms for the successful implementation and accreditation of ISO 13485.• Wrote descriptive documents for surgical techniques and instructions for use of patient specific instrumentation for knee, hip and shoulder replacement surgery.• Designed the layout for a website interface of an online surgical planning tool. • Wrote various other technical reports and creative material for marketing.

• Initiated a Biofabrication Research Group that investigated the use of Additive Manufacturing to produce custom scaffolds and lattices for tissue engineering and other medical applications, namely interbody fusion and hip replacement devices.• Co-authored a book chapter on 3D Printing – already passed editor’s first revision.• Published 6 articles in accredited journals (among others, The Spine Journal)• Published 7 and presented 5 conference papers (4 international and 3 local)• Assisted with the writing of 5 research fund grant applications. • Prepared two research project proposals, one of which layed the foundation for four undergraduate research projects and two postgraduate (MSc) projects.• Provided guidance to five undergraduate and two postgraduate students.• Presented lectures to undergraduate students on Additive Manufacturing.

• Provided workshop assistance to produce various functional prototype models from CAD designs for clients using 3D Printing. These included producing silicon moulds for vacuum casting polyurethane materials.• Assisted clients with general CAD design work using Pro/Engineer Wildfire.• Programmed a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to perform quality assurance and reverse engineering services, utilizing geometrical dimensioning.• Developed a database (MS Access) for quoting, invoicing and tracking client and job information.• Published 8 internationally accredited journal articles.• Published 15 and presented 9 conference papers (5 international and 10 local) • Assisted with preparing a Framework 6 (FP6) European Commission grant application for the development of a decentralized health care support system in collaboration with Fraunhofer IWU (Germany).• Compiled the proceedings for The International Conference on Competitive Manufacturing in 2004, 2007 and 2010. Each publication exceeded 500 pages.• Provided study guidance to numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students.• Designed and maintained RPD Labs’ web site and produced several brochures, posters and other marketing materials.
