Reviewer for Seed Grant program

As a member of the Ignition Award Review Committee for Boston University Technology Development, I work together with the Technology Development office to bring faculty innovators’ ideas and research to market. The Ignition Awards are an internal educational and funding program with a rigorous process for proposal development, investor pitching, and market validation. On the Review Committee, I review proposals, select finalists and awardees, and offer substantive feedback to all faculty applicants at every stage. • Emerging technology opportunities – identify markets/technologies across life science, biotech and diagnostic segments, in-licensing prospects & partnerships, establishing relationships, scientific and business evaluation of external opportunities, competitive landscape and risk assessments, interface with cross functional teams.• Innovation - drive internal and external innovation; identifying and executing on strategic opportunities and partnerships across PerkinElmer's businesses• Partnerships – identify investment, licensing, M&A and other partnership opportunities, developing innovative business models, drafting and negotiating agreements

• Evaluation, strategy, and commercialization of research, discoveries, and IP arising from the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Radiation Oncology, OB/GYN, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urology and the Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH) Sleep Medicine, Anesthesia, OB/GYN, Pulmonary, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics and Urology.• Manage and direct outside counsel on all matters relating to patent prosecution and strategy.• Drafting, negotiation, and execution of Sponsored Research Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, STTR/SBIR Agreements, Co-Development Agreements, Exclusive/Non- exclusive Patent Licensing Agreements, Copyright License Agreements, and other IP related agreements.• Internal IP consultation and support for other functions/offices within the Partners Healthcare System (PHS) including the Clinical Trials Office, Office of Industry Interaction, Transactional Affairs, and Supply Chain.

• Genetically engineered silk for biomedical applications, wound healing & bone regeneration. Performance of designed scaffolds has been evaluated in vitro on bone derived human mesenchymal stem cells and in vivo using mouse models.• Designed silk mimetic proteins for collaboration with BU to model protein folding, predict protein properties and spin artificial spider silk fibers.• Lead scientist on sponsored research agreement on wound healing with Triton Systems and Akeso.

Recombinant DNA Technology

• Understanding of structure-function relationship to design application tailored biomaterials.

• Built a methodology for production of 3-hydroxyalkanoic acids based on the application of bacterial cell systems as factories.• Applied bacterial cell system to functionalize biopolymers: to prevent implant associated infection/inflammation, bring insecticide properties to nanoparticles. • Lead scientist on sponsored research agreement with Inspiralia S.L., Biopolis S.L. and Biomedal.

• Design and biomedical applications of biopolymeric systems, genetically engineered to prevent implant associated infection and inflammation.
