About Nathan Driver
As a maintenance engineer, I provide equipment reliability between company headquarters and the shop and field's combined efforts in preventing premature equipment failures. I use my experiences from both the field and corporate office to communicate effectively and bridge the gaps in misunderstanding from either side. Moreover, I also help to push projects to completion and identify trends that we can address as a maintenance team together. I work alongside maintenance managers who have a more extensive maintenance background to fully capture details for the big picture. In my previous role as an equipment health technician at NexTier, I provided oversight to all the equipment our company had related to hydraulic fracturing. I identified maintenance issues from a data-driven condition-based platform and communicated them appropriately, depending on how severe the issue was regarding safety, supply chain, or finance. Ultimately my goal was to save money by identifying trends and intervening with the field to avoid unforeseen mechanical catastrophes. This was made easy with my background on the operations side both operating equipment and as an engineer. Senior Reliability Engineer
Maintenance Engineer
My goal as a maintenance engineer was to improve maintenance reliability within the Pleasanton district. That included seeing projects to completion, upholding company standards through best practices of maintenance, and providing support between departments as needed. With my extensive background in the various roles I held within the company, I was able to maintain a vast network of specialists to utilize and achieve our combined maintenance goals. I also maintained a detailed library containing documentation for all equipment in the company, which made me a useful resource in general. When I didn't know something, I usually had a manual/SOP at my disposal, and when I did not, I knew who to get ahold of that either had the answers or knew where to start looking for them.
Equipment Health Engineering Technician
As an EHET at NexTier, I provided oversight to all the equipment our company had through watching for abnormalities in data. I identified all maintenance issues that needed to be addressed, and communicated them in a manner dependent on severity, urgency or importance. With how maintenance departments are always trying to reduce unnecessary spending due to premature equipment failures, my ultimate goal was to save that money by identifying trends and intervening with the frac operators or technicians working in the field, all while keeping the job going smoothly. The theory I lived by was that by increasing awareness of equipment issues on location and how critical they were, from a technician's point of view, although it increases the overall amount of maintenance needing performed, it provides the most proactive approach to reduce maintenance in the long run (which can then decrease NPT due to horsepower or blender issues, and then save money by avoiding pre-mature expenses). Plus, catching the severe chronic issues early allows maintenance shops to rotate equipment requiring extensive work more regularly, prolonging the intervals that failures occur. Additionally, I worked remotely alongside our data science teams to help develop and improve our maintenance software platform to automate the process. All our work helped the field to operate in a safer and more efficient manner.
Digital Operations Engineer
Transitioned to Houston during the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain our field reliability efforts remotely. We were unable to work at the office so I had to learn to navigate a new software and server remotely via TeamViewer sessions while upkeeping the compliance of our real time job monitoring/record keeping per quoted/proposed job designs. The responsibilities were relatively the same as Frac Engineers, just with a bit more data security and management aspects, and less fluid measurement / lab analysis work.
Frac Engineer Ii
● Led Operations team in pre-job planning to ensure all materials and equipment needed were on site in good working condition.● Reviewed and presented job designs, specifications, and procedures with crew, acting as jobsite leader and coordinator.● Overlooked quality control tests during job to guarantee best performance possible.● Prepared post-job reports/summaries and tracked results.● Verified job tickets for accuracy before submitting to customers.● Handled customer calls each pad to address inquiries and concerns, updating client of work being performed.
Frac Operator
Rigging up and rigging down irons for the transmission of frac fluids, observing chemical and proppant levels and reporting to frac engineer, maintaining fluid transmission lines and plumbing, operating and maintaining 18 pumps, operating an Accufrac hydration with both linear and cosslinked gel systems as well as slickwater, and operating a Serva blender for multi-stage split and single stream fracking.
Seasonal Worker
Construction in city parks such as: surfacing, disposal of playground equipment, concrete pads for benches/trash cans, temporary fixes for child safety, playground equipment assembly, and occasionally painting signs.
Engineering Intern
I worked with the process improvement department at the mine to evaluate a shovel monitoring system and show how long it would theoretically take to pay off based on production data. Also compiled data for weekly production and safety meetings.
Seasonal Worker
Mowed and trimmed grass and weeds in parks and boulevards in the city as part of the spring/summer mowing crew. Worked towards being a crew leader through hard work.
Part-Time Event Custodian
Set up, tore down for events, locked and unlocked proper doors, maintained trash and bathrooms, and occasionally maintained fires in burn pits.
