I am an economist turned venture builder whose career has focused on creating tools and systems for data-driven decision-making.I began my career in economic and financial research, building novel data science applications to analyze economic recessions, house prices, asset volatility, and digital advertising systems.In 2015, I transitioned to machine learning development at Amazon, specifically the Devices and Physical Stores businesses. During that time, I helped develop algorithms for measuring long-term customer engagement and estimated demand for grocery stores, securing a patent and numerous white papers in the process.In the last five years, I've focused on venture studios — co-founding Amazon’s first internal venture studio and then leading strategy and venture development at Cogo Labs. My focus has been on developing AI tools for market research, venture diligence, governance, and exit planning.My current company 9point8 provides tech-enabled services to venture studios spanning design, management, and portfolio operations. Our diligence copilot -- LaunchIQ -- is a standalone product supporting early-stage investors, accelerators, and tech transfer offices.I'm a frequent panelist and speaker for local Boston accelerators and founder programs focused on venture building practices and strategies. I am a co-chair of the Runkle Elementary School PTO, where my six-year old daughter makes great use of the art studio and dominates the playground monkey bars. I am also a self-published author of contemporary fiction and an avid singer and ukulele player, which my wife both loves and hates depending on the day.
