 Helped develop benchmarking software for process optimization model. Analyze and organize petrochemical feedstock data for benefit studies and optimizing plant processes for the refining and petrochemical industries. Program spreadsheets to handle calculations and organize data into meaningful statistics to show plant improvements and benefits of optimization.

 Led a team of students on a plant assessment and constructed a detailed formal report recommending the implementation of several projects to save money and increase productivity. Travel to manufacturing plants around Texas to perform energy efficiency, productivity, and waste management audits with a small team of students and two professors/engineers. Analyze and interpret electricity bills for manufacturing plants. Conduct performance and efficiency testing on instrumentation, piping, and machinery.

 Worked in the rotor repair cell at GE Energy’s Houston Service Center as a co-op.  Gained a vast knowledge of GE frame 6 and 7 (F/B/E) gas turbine rotors (compressor, turbine, and unit), repair processes, modifications, and design considerations. Was involved in many six sigma and lean manufacturing projects, as well as the team leader for several projects aimed at increasing safety and productivity.  Designed and purchased new NDT tent structure to accommodate every size rotor, developed and implemented rotor lifting methods for the Houston Service Center, and established a formal template for all lifts plans throughout the shop. Helped generate several forms and work instructions, streamlined incoming and final report generation, job tracking, and organization, and supported rotor engineering inspections and dispositions.

 Interned in the civil engineering department.  Assisted a structural engineer in the design of a pipe rack needed in a plant relocation project. Submitted bid proposals for spreader bars for skid hoisting. Experienced the dynamics of inter-office teamwork as well as project planning and progress in a joint venture with other companies.

 Interned in the mechanical engineering department. Assembled job data books for GTL plant relocation. Gained understanding of a mechanical engineers role in large multi-department project.
