I've had the privilege to dive deep into a few professional roles—each driven by my passion for leadership, education, and entrepreneurship.I earned a PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2007 and inspired students as an Italian language and culture instructor. Initially set on a long-term academic career, the economic crisis of 2008-2009 necessitated a shift, opening a door to entrepreneurship.Drawing on my years living in and passion for Italy, I founded Nello's Sauce (later Nellino’s)—a premium pasta sauce brand created to bring authentic Italian flavors to the U.S. market. What started in my home kitchen grew into a nationally recognized brand, with products in over 1,500 retail locations, including Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, and Costco. My decade leading this venture honed my skills in product development, marketing, sales, and operations—skills I now leverage as a consultant and advisor. For roughly five years, I’ve helped food brands across the country and abroad, guiding them through the complexities of growth and helping them achieve market success.I joined the N.C. Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC) in 2020, which is a business advisory organization funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The organization is focused on empowering small and mid-sized businesses. At the SBTDC, I’ve led teams, assisted with statewide initiatives, and played a role in shaping North Carolina’s business landscape. Whether navigating businesses through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic or assisting with strategic planning, my commitment has always been to achieve impactful results.Beyond my professional roles, I contribute to initiatives in innovation, workforce development, and youth sports coaching on a volunteer basis. I also cohost of The Ponzi Playbook podcast, where I share stories of financial fraudsters, drawing on my extensive business knowledge. Additionally, I’ve written a true financial crime book, with plans for publication in 2025 or 2026.My passion lies in helping businesses and individuals thrive, whether they’re just starting out or long into the game. I am dedicated to North Carolina—a state I’ve called home for 20 years and have cherished since childhood.
