Manage the conceptualization, research and development, and production implementation of high-reliability LTWTAs for space applications and other critical markets. Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for the development, transition to production, and production support of next-generation and industry-leading LTWTA solutions and services across the spectrum of advanced and emerging technologies. Provide strategic guidance to business development, the program office, and executive management to align technology development to business needs. Focus on the capture of new business opportunities, lead projects and investigations as the principal investigator, and provide technical leadership as the engineering program manager to support successful resolution of programs and R&D efforts. Serve as senior technical point of contact and world-class expert for fellow staff, customers and end users, and executive management.

Manage and act as the chief engineer for the development of a new “millimeter-wave” LTWTA product line with over $100 million in subsequent sales to date and an expanding customer and sales trajectory currently exceeding $25 million per year and increasing. Principal technical business development leader routinely traveling across the US and internationally meeting with current and potential customers and end-users to promote LTWTA products and applications. Guide customer and end-user key business decision-making and systems architecture planning. Create opportunity through in-person discussion and technical goodwill with the Turkish Space Agency to negotiate and sign L3’s first LTWTA contract with Airbus Industries for the Turksat 3 program award; this opportunity has resulted in substantial new business sales and next-generation market opportunities.

Manage multiple concurrent multi-million dollar TWT and TWTA development programs. Lead the design, manufacture, test, and delivery of traveling-wave tube amplifiers to US Government customers. Oversee proposal generation and negotiation, financial control and review, profit and loss accountability, earned value reporting, integrated scheduling, material and supply chain oversight, design and manufacturing engineering, a gated product development process and risk reduction activities, contractual compliance, and customer and senior management reporting. Mentor other Program Managers, Design Engineers, and Project Engineers.

Serve as government TWT Program Manager for the design, manufacturing, test, and delivery of traveling-wave tubes, and the integration of TWTs into TWTAs. Responsible for all management tasks including proposal generation, financial control and reporting, program and manufacturing scheduling, management and customer reporting, contractual compliance, hardware delivery, and customer support

Manage multiple product research and development efforts, the results of which are the basis for much of the company’s present catalog of Space TWT products. Core team member in the creation of the company’s Product Development Process (PDP). Product design reviewer, PDP gate approver, and design team consultant. Mentor Design and Manufacturing Engineering staff. Lead and support cross-functional engineering teams. Implement the transfer of projects and new technology from design to production. Initiate evolutionary product improvement and standardized design through Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and concurrent engineering.

Manage a technical staff of more than 20 direct reports and consultants with the responsibility of providing product design, tooling design, manufacturing and test engineering, planning and production support, and material review for the Space High-Band TWT product line. Provide process ownership, team guidance, and operator training. Improve critical processes by statistically monitoring performance and implementing corrective action and continuous improvement. Support the proposal and business offices through proposal generation, specification evaluation, customer interface and negotiation, non-recurring and recurring engineering support, and customer design reviews and presentations.

Engineer from prototype to end-of-life space conduction and radiation cooled TWTs. Use advanced computer-aided design technology to develop products capable of amplifying microwave frequencies to customer specifications. Interface with customers, interpret customer requirements, and present milestone information and critical design reviews. Support manufacturing through product improvement, process ownership, design standardization, and team leadership. Lead R&D efforts to investigate alternate methods and advanced technology to improve competitiveness.

Support manufacturing efforts through process ownership, team guidance, and operator training. Plan and introduce modern, high-efficiency processes and equipment to increase productivity and decrease cycle time. Improve critical processes by statistically monitoring performance and implementing corrective action and continuous improvement. Engineer products from prototype to production for space and commercial manufacturing programs. Initiate product improvement and standardize designs through DFMA and concurrent engineering. Review designs for producibility, publish assembly and test instructions, design tooling and production facilities and systems, implement process control, and evaluate and procure support equipment.

Resolve manufacturing and quality discrepancies by coordinating disposition, repair, and material review action with engineering and customer representatives. Serve as chairman of the Material Review Board. Analyze and implement company and customer directives, policies, and requirements.Serve as senior prototype electro-mechanical inspector. Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of high-reliability aerospace hardware. Fluent in blueprint/wiring diagram interpretation, mechanical/electro-optic assembly inspection, and analysis of company/customer directives, policies, and requirements.
