Having parted company with SMS, I am now concentrating on taking a deep breath and enjoying the flexibility that the proceeds of the sale of GMT360 offer me.It has been a hectic eight years in building a business from scratch, moulding it into something that we were all incredibly proud of. Once the acquisition was completed and ink dry on paper we were then occupied by transitioning it to the new owners...............my work here is done!Now time to breathe in and consider what is for the future.................

Just getting my feet under the table so to speak and I'm looking forward to developing a team and focussing on new service lines for the UK and into Europe for SMS. Can't wait to get my teeth into the role.

GMT360 is now a well established IT services company, based in Bracknell, Berkshire. We are continuing to develop relationships in the channel and are supplying services to some of the most significant companies in the UK. We are based in a modern 10,000 Sq Ft facility in the heart of Bracknell's commercial centre, where we hold our central spares cache and our well prepared staging area. This is situated directly adjacent to a 12 seat classroom, dedicated to delivering high quality technical courses to our own technical workforce and those of our globally dispersed partners.Running GMT360 calls on all of my hard earned experience, gained from 30 years in IT service related companies. We are focussing on plugging the gap left by all of those independent computer maintenance companies eaten up by the major IT manufacturers. We are sure that all IT managers and users will welcome the service we have to offer, untainted by any manufacturing targets. We are entirely driven by service excellence......no hidden agenda.Finally, completed the acquisition by SMS (Exquip Network Services) which brings us much more in terms of development potential. We have already demonstrated that, working together with SMS, we can be taken seriously by the top tier and I'm convinced this is repeatable. Being part of a global brand, with real drive and ambition, is inspiring and satisfying in equal measures.

As a Global Solutions Architect, specialising in the EMVS portolio offering, my task is to support the sales effort in developing Multi-Vendor hardware and OS opportunities.I joined Unisys in 2009 after a long and successful career in the independent multi-vendor IT support services sector with a remit of creating a self sufficient support entity for Unisys to build a new revenue stream from existing infrastructure and primarily targeted at existing accounts.Unisys is in a fantastic position to become a significant force in the independent hardware support services market by drawing on its vast resources in field engineering, event management, logistical support and distribution services, founded upon like services already being delivered to global partners and end user clients.

I originally joined the company as Granada when it had just acquired a number of the prominent independent TPM's of the day, notably DPCE, CTL, SMS and Mainstay…….very interesting times!I actually joined a satellite business of the main organisation, called DPCE Products as an upgrade specialist and feature fitting engineer. Products would buy and sell computer equipment to end users or into the trade and they had their own dedicated, and specialised engineering team, of which I was the IBM part.This led to a brief spell with CTL, a GCS spin off company, doing much the same thing as I had at DPCE but for a wider set of clients and much wider geography. It was after this short-lived affair that I entered the mainstream Granada workforce as Test and Verification Manager for IBM products. This was a pivotal stage in my career which involved me in a number of important projects and cemented my new direction in the team management arena.Since 1994 I had been involved with providing a high quality technical support solution to the business as IBM Mainframe Team Leader, Large Systems Support Manager and since 2004 as overall head of the company’s technical support infrastructure.In this time I have worked with many different people and departments and witnessed huge change in the company, the most recent of which being the acquisition of Synstar by HP and looked forward immensely to a very successful future with the new owners. Alas and alack, after 4 turbulent years of organisational changes, asset stripping and cost cutting, I found myself having an opportunity to jump ship with a bit of a nest egg.........which I grabbed with both hands. The rest is history in the making!
