    Having parted company with SMS, I am now concentrating on taking a deep breath and enjoying the flexibility that the proceeds of the sale of GMT360 offer me.It has been a hectic eight years in building a business from scratch, moulding it into something that we were all incredibly proud of. Once the acquisition was completed and ink dry on paper we were then occupied by transitioning it to the new owners...............my work here is done!Now time to breathe in and consider what is for the future.................

    I originally joined the company as Granada when it had just acquired a number of the prominent independent TPM's of the day, notably DPCE, CTL, SMS and Mainstay…….very interesting times!I actually joined a satellite business of the main organisation, called DPCE Products as an upgrade specialist and feature fitting engineer. Products would buy and sell computer equipment to end users or into the trade and they had their own dedicated, and specialised engineering team, of which I was the IBM part.This led to a brief spell with CTL, a GCS spin off company, doing much the same thing as I had at DPCE but for a wider set of clients and much wider geography. It was after this short-lived affair that I entered the mainstream Granada workforce as Test and Verification Manager for IBM products. This was a pivotal stage in my career which involved me in a number of important projects and cemented my new direction in the team management arena.Since 1994 I had been involved with providing a high quality technical support solution to the business as IBM Mainframe Team Leader, Large Systems Support Manager and since 2004 as overall head of the company’s technical support infrastructure.In this time I have worked with many different people and departments and witnessed huge change in the company, the most recent of which being the acquisition of Synstar by HP and looked forward immensely to a very successful future with the new owners. Alas and alack, after 4 turbulent years of organisational changes, asset stripping and cost cutting, I found myself having an opportunity to jump ship with a bit of a nest egg.........which I grabbed with both hands. The rest is history in the making!
