This was a senior level pre-sales Solution Architect role within HP Technology Consulting's Data Centre Consulting and Cloud practice. Within this role I worked alongside the HP account management team to provide consulting services and technology solutions to enterprise customers.The work involved developing relationships with business and technical stakeholders in key accounts and assisting these customers with developing their business cases for strategic technology solutions and identifying opportunities for additional business.This role also required taking lead responsibility for the creation of the solution scopes including SoW / RFP response documentation, developing the solution designs, pricing and deal governance. In many instances I would be the lead architect for large solutions that involved several business units and third party vendors.

During my previous tenure with HP I was the lead solution for a project to fully migrate the contents of a Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) data centre and to subsequently decommission the source data centre. This project involved delivering that solution and I took on the role of lead virtualisation architect. This involved the physical to virtual (P2V) migration of a large number of legacy x86 servers between data centres.This role included responsibility for the design and build of a VMware vSphere platform based on HP Converged Infrastructure and Storage, and integration into the VHA production environment. I also performed the migration analysis, planning and testing using VMware Capacity Planner, and led a team of Technical Consultants in performing the P2V/V2V conversions/migrations over a series of migration events.I also created the detailed design and migration strategy for the migration of a business critical BRM application made up of Oracle, SUN, HP-UX and NetApp components.

Working within Hewlett-Packard Technology Consulting's Data Centre Transformation and Cloud Consulting business in Australia as a senior level pre-sales solution architect in the pursuit team. This role involved developing solutions for HP customers based on the latest data centre best practices and technologies, including virtualisation and cloud computing. This role included designing and scoping solutions based on HP Converged Infrastructure and CloudSystem, HP Storage and Networking, VMware vSphere and vCloud, and data centre consolidation and relocation activities.An example of a major bid I for which I was the lead solution architect is the response to an RFP issued by a major mobile telecommunications company to propose a solution for a large data centre consolidation and transformation project across seven data centres. The solution included an extremely diverse set of requirements across people, process and technology.

In this role I worked in the pursuit team focused on scoping solutions around Microsoft infrastructure services, applications, and virtualisation technologies. This included pre-sales consulting, architectural development, and project delivery.A major project that I worked on in both pre-sales and delivery was a full data centre consolidation exercise of over 200 servers onto a converged infrastructure platform based on Cisco UCS and Nexus hardware, and Microsoft Hyper-V / Systems Center for a government organisation.

For the duration of this position I was seconded to work for Microsoft Consultancy Services (MCS) at the Microsoft head office in Reading, England in the capacity of a security expert focusing on Microsoft WSUS and SMS software update management.The goal of the project I joined was to deliver technical guidance documentation and tools to the UK National Health Service (NHS) to enable them to design and deploy Microsoft infrastructure solutions more easily, consistently and securely.

Technical consultancy services around Microsoft infrastructure solutions including pre-sales, proposal development, project initiation, delivery, support and training for corporate customers. The technologies I worked with included Windows Server 2000 and 2003, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000 and 2003, Microsoft WSUS, Microsoft ISA Server 2000 and 2003, and Microsoft SMS Server 2003.

This role involved the technical support of all Microsoft infrastructure and application services across all companies in the group. During this tenure I led the design and implementation of the upgrade of four Windows NT 4.0 domains into a single Windows 2000 Active Directory forest.
