Lamda X was the seed-stage startup precursor to Plunk.

Executive role leading 6 labs and research groups in North America and Europe consisting of 75+ scientists and engineers. These labs and groups focus on a variety of advanced technology research and development questions and problems arising from HERE's global digital map-based products and location intelligence services for the enabling the Autonomous World. Our labs focus on driving leading research in AI and applying machine learning-based AI to digital map-making processes and delivering intelligent location data and services.

Continuation of my role at Medio Systems.Currently I lead a team that has grown from 4 to 11 mostly PhD applied mathematicians, statisticians and computer scientists, most with 10+ years of experience in applied machine learning and/or big data pipeline systems . As part of the CTO's office we function as a group of internal experts supporting business unit-based data scientists and/or enabling engineering and production teams without a team of data scientists to improve their big data curation systems with machine learning aided AI.

Stepped in to guide 27 research scientists and engineers distributed across four physical sites in the USA and western Europe while we searched for a new Head of Research. The team drives 10+ advanced technology R&D projects ranging across HERE application areas in connected vehicle/device sensor fusion, probe data analysis for dynamic map feature enhancement, NLP, computer vision and computational geometry.

Medio was acquired by HERE, then a division of Nokia, in July 2014.My role at Medio was to plan, coordinate and collaborate on advanced big data analysis and applied machine learning projects performed by the Medio Data Science team. Includes working with Medio product teams to integrate predictive analysis and scoring components into the product and performing analysis work involving constructing predictive models, mainly using machine learning techniques, to improve mobile app and mobile web offer targeting and content recommendations for Medio clients. Medio's systems currently capture and processes high 100s of millions of mobile app end-user events per day into a hybrid AWS and proprietary big data infrastructure. The primary technologies we use at Medio for data science activities involving this data are Hadoop, Hive, Pig, R and Python (Pandas, scikit-learning), to perform highly parallelized data extraction, aggregation and scoring operations as well as predictive model development.

Participated in research and development on critical Boeing computational science software. Subject areas included computational geometry and multi-disciplinary optimization.

Designed and developed a prototype real-time, geospatial data analysis and visualization system.

Project history:Solution Architect and client relationship focal point on several reporting projects at Microsoft for Partnerpedia, Inc.Healthcare claims data analysis and summarization project for a Milliman client project, using Milliman's extensive claims datawarehouse. Re-designed a struggling healthcare insurance cost benchmarking application. It was/is built using ASP.NET/MS SQL Server 2008. I both coded and managed an India-based development team to successful ship of v1.0.Advised a former Navy Engineer with an ultra-capacitor technology patent to being selected as a semi-finalist in the Clean Tech Open business plan competition.Performed predictive analytics & modeling-oriented data analysis project for First Data/Intelligent Results.Designed and developed proof-of-concept transaction fraud detection system and managed prototype client deployment relationship and project for Finsphere Corp during seed capital stage.

Second full-time employee after the CEO; collaborated on all business modeling and opportunity forecasting, along with initial go-to-market messaging which was tested and refined based upon personal interactions with customers and key influencers. Instrumental in moving proof-of-concept client from a successful project into a master services agreement and active service integration and deployment project. Instrumental in landing series-A round of venture capital funding. Led Client Services planning and operations to ensure successful customer deployments.Provided technical sales, consulting and integration assistance to all customers and prospects.

Designed and developed initial proof-of-concept system used with a real customer to validate company concept.Led all aspects of software and data center planning, as well hiring and managing the engineering team for the first 9 months after completing successful proof-of-concept project.Instrumental in hiring exceptional VP of Engineering & Ops to take over that aspect of my role after we completed round of funding.Established technical architecture (SAAS model using Linux, Java, J2EE, MS SQL Server) and direction for the initial system, acquired hardware and infrastructure software to support initial engineering effort, oversaw design and purchase of first operational data center.Designed first algorithm (expert-rules based) which produced data customers would use in fraud management systems.Did analysis and initial design for the version 2 algorithm, which was a move toward a statistical model-based score for customers to consume in fraud management systems.

Head of the Client Services department, which encompassed all aspect of IR's data mining and predictive analytics solutions delivery capability, including management of professional solution deployment consulting services, deployment partnerships, end-user and administrator training, and traditional software technical support.

I was hired to lead technical development of software applying IR's innovative text mining core to CRM data. However, this became the whole focus of the entire company shortly after I joined, so this role became 9 months of intense server-side java programming, and using my professional services skills to evangelize our business value with prospects and customers, as well as helping beta customers, including US Army Intelligence, make use of version 1 of IR's text mining software.

Took the lead role in this group shortly after it was formed to develop highly customized solutions for Onyx customers using the Onyx platform. It started out as a hybrid software development team with a professional services bent. After our first solution was deployed it became a mainline product and the group was absorbed in the Onyx R&D where it grew into a full-capability division of 20+ people, with developers, software QA and two technical writers.

Hands-on, multi-tier core platform development role using C++, MS SQL Server and MS VB ver. 5. Worked on one major project from design to ship, and aspects of several other projects developing middle-tier enhancements.

Known as Andersen Consulting while I was there, I started my career in high tech with Andersen and worked up through the career path to Manager before I left in 1995. I worked on several large manufacturing and shop floor control systems implementation projects involving a combination of custom software and packaged software, mostly for large industrial manufacturers including Boeing, Weyerhaueser, Paccar and Daishowa America.
