Neal is an entrepreneur and multi-jurisdictional IP attorney. He founded and serves as managing director of boutique IP firm Patenteur, serving clients from Australia and abroad.His experience includes IP strategy development, IP registrations, IP monetization strategies, IP licensing and M&A due diligence, particularly for large multi-nationals and technology start-ups, as well as providing IP-based strategy, governance, risk and compliance advice at board level.Past experience includes serving as senior IP and commercial counsel to Rio Tinto, the global mining giant, where he advised on the commercial direction and management of the company's IP portfolio. During this time, Rio Tinto was awarded the Thomson Reuters Australian Innovation Award. Neal also served as Chair of the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Steering Committee, providing IP advice and GRC strategy at board level.He's also experienced as international IP Consultant, having provided advice to various universities, research organisations and technology start-ups and groups, including a preeminent European IP analytics company and a Southeast Asian IP firm. His people skills have also allowed him to establish numerous successful private practice portfolios.He enjoys advising on all aspects of IP and working closely with entrepreneurs in formulating commercially-minded IP protection and monetization strategies. Neal has particular skill in identifying untapped IP opportunities across various technology fields, including information and communication technology (ICT), software, mining, oil & gas, business methods, medical devices, physics, electronics and mechanical devices.
