As I entered the world of glass, I found it extremely fascinating that you could form it to almost any shape you desired.I built my first kiln in a farm shed in Stellenbosch a small village near Cape Town.This is where I started making gifts, I found it challenging and there were huge obstacles to overcome.We started producing larger items, such as bending glass for cabinet doors.I moved my factory to a larger premises the Strand in 2001. As the demand for our products grew we were able to increase the range of products we offered. We started bending glass for Deli display counters, Yacht windows, balustrades, glass basins etcAs we developed new products I learnt the basics of my trade through trial and error. I also learnt the principles of running a business from costing to marketing and selling our products.After seven successful years the business was bought by Finiglass Pty Ltd.

I was involved in the day to day running of the business. Architecnic specialises in spray finishing of a variety of different products. The main products that they finish are internal cabinetry. I sold my shares back to the main shareholder in October 2000 as I wanted to pursue my own business interests.

We facilitated a migration from Novell 4.11 to Microsoft NT. It was really interesting not only because Budweiser brewed their own beer but also the different systems that they had in place in each production process, from the brew house to the bottling plant, I was responsible for supporting users, systems and software.
