Just a young man with a keen eye for mechanical systems and technical design. Having now graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) degree, and working for Bespoke Engineering for the most-part of 2021, I am once again looking for graduate mechanical engineering employment opportunities within SA.My interest in mechanical systems started from a young age, with the realisation of wanting to pursue engineering as a career developing throughout high school. My enthusiasm for maths, science, and manufacturing, as well as 2 weeks of high school work experience at Applidyne Engineering Design Solutions, motivated me to study mechanical engineering at the University of Adelaide. During my time at university I thoroughly enjoyed working with classmates and friends alike to solve the engineering problem of the day. In particular, I enjoyed subjects where we would work in teams to create a device in order to perform a task. These included the WARMAN competition, working with the Adelaide University Motorsport Team (AUMT), and my Tubular Linear Motor (cover photo) Design Honours project. Prior to Honours, working with AUMT on both their petrol (2017) and electric (2018-2019) vehicles gave me the best practical, hands-on engineering experience I could have hoped for. Similarly, as Team Leader for my Honours project, I got to see the project through each of its planning, designing, building, and testing phases, which I found immensely satisfying. During the 2020/21 summer period I completed my practical experience component of my degree through the University of Adelaide via an extensive research-based literature review. My research topic was on vibrational energy harvesters, with a focus on those using magnetostrictive materials. In early April 2021, I was fortunate enough to gain a position at Bespoke Engineering (Lonsdale, South Australia) as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer. Later that month I graduated from University with First Class Honours in my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. I immensely enjoyed working at Bespoke from day one. I found that their fast paced, yet highly collaborative workplace is what allows them to come up with some of the most innovative engineering solutions, and what is more, these solutions can then be manufactured, all in the same building. I have also enjoyed working with Bespoke Engineering on projects that have furthered the development of their modern 3-cylinder, 2L, radial engine as well as the turbodiesel, prototype variant that is in the pipework.
