Laureus empowers sportsmen and women to use their collective voice to highlight and promote the value of sport in society, to fulfil the purpose of the organisation outlined in the visionary words of its first Patron, Nelson Mandela, at the inaugural Laureus World Sports Awards in 2000 – ‘Sport has the power to change the world’.The annual Laureus World Sports Awards and a range of other event based and digital properties around the world form the basis of the unique Laureus communications platform. The Awards is used to highlight and celebrate the inspirational power of sport as a force for good whilst communicating and advocating for the important role sport plays in society and young lives in particular.

Using sport, play and mentoring as our tools, Magic Bus is putting India’s most marginalised children & young people on the path from Childhood to Livelihood. On their journey from Childhood to Livelihood, they’ll learn the skills that will help them succeed in school, become empowered to avoid child marriage and child labour, find a secure job, and leave poverty behind for good.Right now, Magic Bus is working with over 381,000 children and 30,000 young people across India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar.The Foundation in the UK Exists to raise funds to support the work of the organisation headquartered in India.

The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation exists to fund and promote sport as a tool for positive social change. The foundation supports over 100 different garssroute programmes in 36 countries from ten offices spread around the world. The organisation is supported by the Laureus World Sports Academy - 46 sporting legends from across sport who act as ambassadors and spokespeople on the value of sport in society. The Academy are also the judges of the annual Laureus World Sports Awards, the 'Oscars of Sport' which celebrates achievement at the very highlest levels of world sport.
