SOSV is a multi-stage, global venture firm that invests in deep tech startups addressing human and planetary health. It operates the startup development programs HAX and IndieBio in NYC, Newark, NJ, and San Francisco. I am responsible among other things for communications and marketing across the firm and launched the SOSV Climate Tech Summit and the SOSV VC-Founder Matchup series to help support the deep tech startup ecosystem. I also work closely with dozens of founders each year as they complete our programs and prepare for the real world, including funding announcements and their first media exposure.

Founded Sight Tech Global in 2020 as an annual, virtual event to explore how rapidly advancing AI technologies, including computer vision, natural language processing, and LLMs are driving improvements in assistive technology for people who are blind or visually impaired. More than 2,000 people registered on average in 2020-2023 from 70 countries. All past programming content is available on YouTube. Past partners include Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Waymo, LinkedIn, TechCrunch, Yahoo, Ford, Humanware, APH, Fable, Dot, and more. All proceeds from sponsorships went to the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which continues to operate the event.

Managed media brands TechCrunch and Engadget at Verizon Media. Also oversaw CrunchBase until 2015, when we spun out the data business out as a venture-backed startup with Emergence ventures. In eight years, TechCrunch's online audience has more than doubled and its event business grew from two US events a year to as many as a dozen, globally. In 2014, TechCrunch launched its ground-breaking diversity commitment - the Include program, and in 2019 we launched the subscription-based business, Extra Crunch.

GoSportn was a social media and marketing firm. Launched two social media, lead generation businesses for outdoor guides, GoFISHn.com and GoHUNTn.com, which featured deep integrations with Facebook pages. Also designed and launched the new Bassmaster.com, after B.A.S.S. acquired the brand from ESPN.

Responsible for Time Inc's Web businesses as well as digital product development, ad operations, audience development, engineering and design teams. Launched Time Inc.'s first digital subscription businesses. Drove successful new digital products from People, InStyle, Entertainment Weekly, Life and Southern Living. Oversaw AOL-Time Inc. relationship (2002-2005). Served as Time Inc.'s board member at the Online Publishers' Association and the Interactive Advertising Bureau. (From 2003-2005 the role was essentially the same but title was Executive Editor.)

Hired an editorial and sales team and launched eCompany Now monthly magazine and website for Time Inc. in May 2000. Acquired Business 2.0 in 2001 from Imagine media and merged the companies under the Business 2.0 brand.

Served as a board member for Hoovers, shortly after going public in 1999.

Led effort to build content channels based on Disney brands ABCNews, ESPN, Infoseek and other brands for Disney's Go.com portal. (Disney acquired Infoseek 1998.)

Covered Japan and Silicon Valley for Fortune magazine, with a focus on rise of the Internet in Silicon Valley.

Led effort to create Infoseek Japan with partner Digital Garage. Rakuten acquired Infoseek Japan for $81 million in 2000.

Time's senior correspondent for Japan and the Koreas based in Tokyo. Covered Kobe earthquake, Aum Shinrikyo sarin gas attacks, North-South Korea military tensions, Japan's economic decline, and the rise of the Internet.

Senior correspondent for Time magazine covering South Asia. Covered conflicts in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Punjab, Kashmir, and Siachen, political fates of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan and Rajiv Gandhi in India, and India's Hindu-Muslim divide.
