Neil Dowling is an Irish writer/director. He has been working with German cinematographer/director Nils Clauss under the Contented label since 2008. The pair started out with corporate film and music videos and in the early days were nomination in the category of Best Alternative Video (International) at the 2011 UK Music Video Awards. Their works have been included in Saatchi and Saatchi New Directors Showcase in Cannes and screened as part of the New Directors Showcase on tour in Beijing and Shanghai. Contented's presence as a new and distinctive voice on the international music video scene was acknowledged by glowing reviews in Sight and Sound, and GQ magazine. Neil's debut feature film Finding Joy screened at a number of international film festivals and was awarded Best Narrative Feature at Liverpool Lift Off Film Festival.In recent years Neil has worked regularly with BBC Storyworks on a wide range of short documentaries on innovation, tech, science, food production, energy, housing, AI, sustainability and climate change.
