I work for the LSU Museum of Art and the LSU Foundation
President, Friends Of The Lsu Museum Of Art
I support the LSU Museum of Art (MOA) because it is a space my young son and I can enjoy together and connect. My family experiences the LSU MOA together. Regardless of age or gender, the museum provides us a space to think about and talk about what art is - life. The museum expands our sense of the way things can be. The possible is constantly redefined. I give LSU MOA my time and money because of the work they do with public school children and art. Exposure to art, learning about creating things we care about, profoundly affects children. Being able to enter into the world of another and empathizing or motivating children to offer the best of themselves is a priceless lesson the museum provides. The museum offers children and adults the opportunity to see the soul of someone else in a work of art and appreciate its beauty. Children recognize and react to this... as does the part of me that needs to be nurtured. The museum affords a transformative experience everyday. I cherish what the University has given the Baton Rouge and surrounding community in the LSU MOA. LSU MOA is art in action: connections, empathy, motivation, & focus, as Eric Booth states, “Art is a verb”. The LSU MOA has enriched my family's lives... family and quality of life...its an art in the South, isn't that why we live in Baton Rouge? I encourage you to visit the LSU MOA today and experience art in action for yourself!
