10 week research placement under the supervision of Dr Edward Tipper. Research investigated the global weathering cycle taking into account the weathering of clays. Required critical thinking and innovation through different lab techniques adapted throughout placement, testing different hypotheses, achieving targets and completing a final written assessment. Work carried out will assist in publishing of a scientific journal paper.

Annual event in which children aged 6-10 from various schools around Scotland participate in an Earth science learning day. Specific duties include supervision of the children ensuring their well-being as well as teaching the volcanology section. Presentation skills acquired, as well as full responsibility in organising and running the event as a group leader along with other students.
