Neel Kumar is a Canadian filmmaker who was born in Calcutta, India. He has lived in Dubai, Canada and Sri Lanka, but has refused to grow up anywhere. A former copywriter, he started his advertising career at Young and Rubicam and later moved to Saatchi & Saatchi, where his work won a fair few international awards.Leaving Saatchi in 2011, Neel has since directed and produced documentaries, commercials and corporate films for clients like Emirates, Land Rover, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Infiniti, Samsung, OSN, Toshiba, Puma, Procter and Gamble, Unilever, Cadbury, Qatar Airways, Sony, Sharp, Anta Sports and the Dubai International Financial Centre, as well as a number of Dubai-based startups.Neel's first feature film "Beneath a Sea of Lights", which he has written and directed, is being distributed by Showtime in the United States, and will soon roll out internationally. Starring Oscar Nominee Barkhad Abdi, the film follows the story of Caweys - a Somali billboard repairman in Dubai who tries to experience the products on his billboards. He's currently working on his second feature: "Epitaph".
