East Timor Trading co-founder, Mrs Neelofer Awan, has a wide range of business experience in the United Kingdom, Dubai, Australia, and Timor-Leste. Along with her husband, Sakib, Chair of the company, Mrs Awan was instrumental in growing East Timor Trading Group from a small home office business with a handful of staff to the large, diverse organization it is today.With her background in senior management in the pharmaceutical, advertising, hospitality, and food distribution industries, Neelo has, for 22 years, provided an overarching strategy to guide the vision and business philosophy behind ETT.Her exceptional people skills have been vital to the establishment and to the long-term success of the company from day one and due to these skills, ETT has one of, if not the highest, staff retention rate of any business in Timor-Leste.Mrs Awan is also the Chair of the company’s philanthropic arm, The Discovery Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to deliver increased living standards to communities in developing nations by building education facilities, funding education research, and improving access to clean water. All work undertaken by the foundation supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #5: To Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls.
